The New 197-foot Ultra G Superyacht

The top deck of the soon-to-be-delivered 197-foot Ultra G is set to become a hub of excitement, featuring a wild foam party that contrasts with sportfishing from the stern, a DJ party in the salon, and a competitive games tournament in the media room. Each space on this remarkable vessel is meticulously designed to offer maximum enjoyment, all while challenging conventional superyacht stereotypes

The Ultra G, a new creation from Heesen, is not just a vessel of novelties. Its propulsion system is nothing short of extraordinary, boasting a staggering 22,000 horsepower from MTU diesel engines connected to oversized four water jets, which allows it to achieve a top speed of 37 knots. This level of power is akin to greased lightning for a yacht of this size. In fact, the Ultra G proudly boasts “the most horsepower of any Heesen ever made,” according to the unnamed captain. But that’s not where the claims stop; he goes on to assert, “This is the best Heesen ever made.”

Originally known as Project Skyfall during its construction several years ago, Ultra G is instantly recognizable on the water with its striking exterior designed by Omega Architects, featuring bold black and red lines. While it exudes a sporty demeanor, it defies classification as a sports yacht. Despite being equipped with advanced fishing technology, a rarity for a superyacht, it isn’t merely a sportfishing vessel either. Instead, Heesen dubs it a “sportsfisherman in yacht disguise.

At the aft section, an open beach club has been transformed into a purpose-built fishing platform. This area is thoughtfully equipped with a multitude of features aimed at elevating the fishing experience while ensuring the yacht’s protection. Rod holders are scattered liberally, and the back deck features a flushing system. Furthermore, there are lockers to store fish on ice, freezers capable of rapidly freezing fish to the ideal temperature, and live wells to keep bait alive until reaching the fishing spot.

To enhance the overall experience, the designers have incorporated an outdoor “Fisherman’s Lounge” in the cockpit, replete with comfortable sofas and screens displaying live feeds from underwater “fishfinder” cameras positioned around the hull.

The interior styling of Ultra G is the work of the British design house Harrison Eidsgaard. The aesthetic is a delightful departure from the masculine exterior, featuring a base palette of grays, golds, and greens complemented by layered lighting and rich caramel oak finishes, which dominate the majority of the interior, alongside limed-oak accents.

A consistent charcoal-hued stone theme runs throughout, with textured jura and veined pietra grigia limestone used generously. Textured linear wall coverings by Innovations infuse color and personality, while custom furniture pieces serve as works of art in themselves. The dining room boasts a walnut table with brass inlays, a creation by Alex Hull, while the bedroom features a custom abstract art piece in plaster by DKT. Even the day head receives artistic treatment, with a custom scooped panel by Dmitri Livenstov.

The heart of the interior is the open-plan main salon, distinguished by its spaciousness and abundant natural light, courtesy of panoramic windows and sliding doors that establish a seamless connection to the outdoors. This lounge incorporates bespoke features rarely found on a sportfishing yacht, including custom temperature-controlled wine fridges, DJ decks, and a top-tier sound system ideal for hosting parties.

Speaking of which, a remarkable architectural highlight can be found on the deck above, where a staircase meanders through a glass-topped atrium leading to the upper deck lounge – the ultimate party pad complete with DJ decks, powerful CAT speakers, disco lights, and a teak-friendly machine that ignites foam parties. The glass top can be retracted at the push of a button and closed again to shield the atrium from rain or foam.

Another fascinating space onboard is the full-beam media room, situated just off the main salon. Its centerpiece is a colossal Samsung screen known as “The Wall,” capable of hosting movie screenings, live viewing, gaming, and even fishing observations.

We placed a camera on the bow so when you’re here gazing at the horizon, you maintain a 180-degree view through the side windows and on the screen in front of you,” explains the captain. “It’s a lot of fun.” The room also houses a poker table and various game consoles, including a PlayStation 5, karaoke system, Xbox, and multiple fish finder viewers. This setup allows guests to indulge in their favorite film while keeping an eye on the yacht’s course and their fishing lines simultaneously.

After a day filled with activities, the owner can retreat to the luxurious full-beam owner’s suite. A private hallway leads to the suite, adorned with a massive “whale’s tale” artwork, a walk-in wardrobe, a bathroom featuring a standalone bath, and a generously sized bed accompanied by another large television screen.

The cabin extends to a private deck with a wraparound terrace housing a unique feature – a dog-relief area. This synthetic “grass” patch is equipped with sensors and cameras, automatically cleaned by sprinklers after a pet has done its business.

For accommodating an additional eight guests, the yacht offers four guest cabins, comprising two doubles and two twins, along with quarters to comfortably sleep a crew of 14.

True to its name, Ultra G embodies the spirit of extremes. As for whether it truly ranks as Heesen’s finest creation ever, that remains open to your interpretation.
