A 358-Foot Bonkers Superyacht With Glass Pools

While luxury superyachts have become accustomed to featuring swimming pools, Design Storz is pushing the boundaries with its latest concept, the 358-foot Skia. What sets Skia apart is not just one, but three breathtaking glass pools that cascade across its aft decks, offering a visually stunning aquatic experience. The yacht, born from the expertise of Austrian studio Design Storz, stands out with a sleek exterior, reflecting the design DNA cultivated by Achim Storz, who initially designed Formula 1 race cars for Lotus and McLaren.

Skia’s exterior design showcases long character lines and splines, resulting in a state-of-the-art sculpture on water. Storz, drawing from over four decades of experience in the automotive industry, skillfully balances light and shadow to create a visually dynamic profile. The graphic element on the hull and superstructure draws inspiration from sportswear rather than cars, with a geometric design and a two-tone paint job contributing to Skia’s strong stance.

Beyond its visually striking design, Skia offers a range of onboard amenities. The foredeck features a touch-and-go helipad, providing convenient access, while the generous aft beach club incorporates fold-out terraces. A retractable swim platform at the stern enhances the yacht’s connectivity with the sea. Noteworthy features include a spacious gym and a luxurious spa complete with a Jacuzzi, sauna, and direct water access.

The interior of Skia follows an open-plan layout, emphasizing a seamless flow without interrupting bulkheads. Although Design Storz has not yet released interior renders, the living quarters promise high ceilings, expansive windows, contemporary decor, and a commitment to sustainable materials. Skia can accommodate up to 14 guests and a crew of 30.

Swimming pools have become an integral feature in yachting, with the trend evolving from the RMS Olympic, the first ship to feature a heated onboard pool in 1910. Over the past century, pools have become a staple for yacht owners, growing in size and extravagance.
