Heesen’s Epic New 187-Foot Custom Superyacht

Heesen is making significant strides with an innovative superyacht project.

The Dutch shipyard recently initiated the construction of a bespoke 187-foot yacht featuring a distinctive layout within its fleet. Referred to as Project Setteesettanta, with the codename YN 20857, this project was commissioned by a returning client and is being executed by an exceptional marine collaboration.

Frank Laupman and the team at Omega Architects have designed the yacht’s all-aluminum exterior, characterized by its sleek lines, a fast-displacement hull, and an almost-vertical bow. Notably, Setteesettanta marks the first yacht in Heesen’s collection to position the bridge on the fourth deck, maintaining a streamlined silhouette with a discreet mast designed by Laupman. The exterior will feature Flat Star Link communication panels instead of traditional domes to enhance its aesthetic appeal.

Heesen CEO Niels Vaessen expressed confidence in the shipyard’s ability to create a flawless 187-foot custom motor yacht, highlighting the expertise required for lightweight aluminum construction.

The interior design, overseen by Cristiano Gatto, a longstanding collaborator with Heesen, will be entirely bespoke, avoiding off-the-shelf elements. With a spacious interior volume of 920 GT, Setteesettanta will offer ample onboard space. The yacht’s layout includes an elegant oval staircase connecting all four decks, with a separate staircase for the crew.

The upper deck is exclusively reserved for the owners, ensuring privacy. The owner’s stateroom boasts 180-degree views and a private terrace of around 2,150 square feet, which can double as a helipad. Guest accommodations include one VIP cabin on the main deck’s starboard side and two twins and two doubles on the lower deck.

Additional features of Setteesettanta encompass a fully equipped gym, a luxurious dining area, and a spacious aft terrace. The yacht will also have an open transom with a stunning double staircase surrounding a 13-foot infinity pool.

With a top speed of 18 knots and a transatlantic range of 3,900 nautical miles at 12 knots, Setteesettanta is designed for impressive performance. The keel-laying ceremony occurred at the Heesen yard in Oss on December 14, where the owners participated in celebrating this milestone, welding a traditional good luck coin onto their yacht. If all goes according to plan, the vessel is expected to be delivered in 2026. Heesen currently has 14 yachts under construction, ranging from 164 to 262 feet.
