‘Pink Shadow,’ the Kitschy 180-Foot Superyacht

Professor Hans Georg Näder, the owner of Baltic Yachts, is a firm believer in progress. Despite his lifelong passion for sailing since the age of seven, he has wholeheartedly embraced the motor yacht lifestyle with the recent launch of his 190-foot Damen SeaXplorer, the Pink Shadow.

Originally serving as a support vessel accompanying Näder’s 174-foot Pink Gin VI sailing yacht on its global voyages, the original Pink Shadow, now part of Anthony Hsieh’s Bad Company fleet, left an indelible mark on Näder. He not only retained the vessel’s name but also transferred its artwork to his new yacht. A significant sculpture initially intended for Pink Gin VI now graces Pink Shadow’s dining area, while artist Marcin Rusack, who played a pivotal role in the interior design of Näder’s former yacht, was commissioned to create distinctive features for the new vessel, including the Amazonas bar panels and a dining table.

Contrary to its name, Pink Shadow is far more than a mere support vessel. As a primary explorer yacht, it boasts six staterooms spread across six decks, accommodations for 17 crew members, and an array of luxurious amenities, including three bars, a Tahiti beach club, and a cozy seating area on the uppermost deck. The vibrant interiors, envisioned by Design Unlimited, draw inspiration from the eccentric 1980s film Fitzcarraldo by Werner Herzog, setting a whimsical tone for the vessel’s design.

The Amazonian motif permeates every aspect of Pink Shadow, from the central staircase mural depicting an underwater scene ascending into a canopy of trees to the bamboo backlit ceiling and faux tropical plant walls in the bridge deck dayhead. Each guest cabin tells a unique story, with meticulously curated details, from wallpaper motifs to color-coordinated clothes hangers.
