Lewis Hamilton Rocked on a Burberry in the FIA Awards

Lewis Hamilton’s fondness for Burberry continues to blossom, as the Formula 1 icon showcased his style prowess in a bold houndstooth ensemble from the renowned British fashion house during a press conference held on Friday before the FIA’s annual awards ceremony.

The seven-time F1 champion, who secured a third-place finish overall in the recent season, used the platform to criticize Formula One’s governing body for what he deemed “unacceptable” treatment of Toto and Susie Wolff. The FIA had initiated an investigation into potential conflict of interest involving the Mercedes team boss and his wife. Simultaneously, Hamilton made a noteworthy fashion statement during the interview.

Hamilton donned a hooded houndstooth jacket paired with matching slouchy trousers from Daniel Lee’s second collection for Burberry. The 37-year-old British designer, formerly the creative director of Bottega Veneta and later appointed as Burberry’s creative director in September 2022, chose a more traditional approach with cuts and prints in this collection. Some critics had previously argued that his initial collection veered too far from Burberry’s established identity.

Lee has also reimagined the iconic Burberry check, offering a modern twist. Hamilton had previously flaunted a custom set featuring a new iteration of the print, combining purple, blue, and yellow instead of the usual tan, black, red, and white.

Widely regarded as one of the best-dressed figures in motorsport, Hamilton consistently showcases bold attire and accessories both on and off the racetrack. Notably, he made headlines when he appeared at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix donning a monochromatic Rick Owens ensemble along with an IWC Big Pilot’s watch. Hamilton’s preference for supporting labels from his home country is evident in his fashion choices.

However, Hamilton isn’t the sole A-lister endorsing Lee’s Burberry creations. Barry Keoghan, the Irish actor renowned for his role in “Saltburn,” attended the house’s spring/summer 2024 show in north London last September donning the same head-to-toe houndstooth look. With influential figures like Hamilton and Keoghan championing the brand, Daniel Lee has the freedom to explore innovative avenues. Perhaps his future endeavors might involve experimenting with tweed or gingham patterns.
