A Razor-Sharp Bow Inspired By WWII Military Vessels

Like its namesake, the Diamond 58 is pointy.

In the past couple of years, Franco Gnessi has quietly researched which hull is most efficient. As a literal centerpiece of the Italian studio’s Diamond superyacht concept, the designer chose a shape that has been around for more than 70 years.

Originally conceived in 2018, the 190-foot vessel sports a sharp bow inspired by WWII military vessels, creating an effect on the waves that is said to have a unique furrowing effect. In addition to being the first shipyard to incorporate the wave-piercing axe bow into modern yachts, Damen holds the exclusive license for it. Gnessi and his team decided to tackle something larger because Damen specializes in ships of modest displacement.

With the 190-footer in question, the studio plans to develop the whole Diamond line, beginning with superyachts between 130 feet and 262 feet.

A hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system offers cruising speeds of up to 28 knots, according to the company, and it can sail without emission for four hours at 10 knots.

Performance isn’t the only thing, though. In addition to its sleek, contemporary lines and ample deck space, the Diamond 58 is also loaded with amenities to keep you entertained at sea. It comes with a plethora of amenities. The yacht has a Jacuzzi in the bow, a helipad on the upper deck, as well as a large tender garage that can accommodate a full fleet of water toys.

Aft, the main deck features fold-down side terraces that enable the deck to be expanded when desired. A hydraulic swim platform pops up from the transom and provides ocean access.

It seems that Diamond 58 is quite a clever concept.
