Pershing’s 80-Foot Yacht, A Sports Car for the High Seas

Pershing has introduced a more athletic addition to its family of boats. The Italian shipyard, under the Ferretti Group’s leadership, recently revealed the second model in its GTX series. Following the debut of the flagship GTX116 last spring, the new GTX80 aims to deliver enhanced performance, speed, and optimal onboard comfort.

Conceived by Pershing, Feretti, and Vallicelli Design, the newcomer seamlessly blends advanced marine technologies with Pershing’s distinctive sleek style and impeccable “Made in Italy” craftsmanship. Stretching approximately 79 feet (24 meters), the yacht features a nearly vertical bow, a planing hull with a continuous curved sheerline, and an artfully designed superstructure.

With two decks and a sportbridge, the GTX80 boasts a generous open layout to ensure guests maintain a strong connection to the sea. The main deck salon, for example, incorporates glazing that extends below the lateral walkways, providing a water view from the sofas. A noteworthy addition in the nearly full-beam saloon is the hybrid galley-bar, seamlessly connecting the indoor lounge with the outdoor cockpit.

In terms of accommodation, the yacht offers four cozy cabins for up to eight guests, along with discreetly tucked away crew quarters for two. Guest cabins showcase sky-blue leather paneling and stylish furniture, while bathrooms feature metallic lacquered panels. This play of textures extends throughout the interior, with warm-hued leather sofas and inviting woods juxtaposed against cooler metallic accents. Integrated lighting serves as a distinctive design element.

The exterior is equally impressive. The versatile stern platform, utilizing the dual linear lift function, can be raised to expand the aft living area, lowered to launch tenders, or kept in the default position to function as a waterside lounge. The foredeck features an oversized sun pad, and the sundeck, spanning nearly 250 square feet, is 60 percent larger than the category average.

Propelled by three Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 engines generating 1,000 hp, the GTX80 is anticipated to achieve a top speed of 34 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots based on preliminary data. Navigating the yacht should be a delight, with the raised helm station in the bow offering 360-degree visibility and a substantial windshield providing protection from the elements. What more could one ask for?
