Zero-emission Sunreef Catamarans With Infinite Range

A discerning eco-conscious seafarer designed the fully custom cat.

Several sustainable-minded seafarers have found Sunreef’s electric “Super Cat” to be a perfect match.

The 80 Sunreef Power Eco is tailored to the client’s exact specifications to ensure outstanding energy efficiency and zero carbon emissions at sea.

In order to determine which yards really were advancing sustainable yachting, the yachter conducted extensive research. The Sunreef team managed to capture the attention of multiple international builders.

A future owner told Sunreef in a recent interview that large power yachts have a significant impact on the environment. Accordingly, we could only consider a power yacht incorporating technologies such as solar energy and electric vehicles rapidly scaling in other sectors.

In terms of green technology, the cat certainly delivers. Yard’s solar skin system will be featured on the 78-footer. In addition to the hull sides, superstructure, and bimini, approximately 2,152 square feet of solar panels will generate up to 36kWp of clean energy.

A high-tech battery bank will be included in the craft, which will be 30 percent lighter than its standard counterpart. Its efficiency is higher than that of heavier competitors as a result. There is, however, an extra charge for adding a kite if the owner wishes to increase the cat’s top speed. Sunreef claims the almost silent cat has an “infinite range.”‍

Materials will be sourced ethically and environmentally friendly onboard. A DC-powered air conditioning and water purification system will provide drinking water. On a more aesthetic level, the owner says regular visits to the yard allowed them to make quick and easy layout, decor, and furnishing decisions.

Sunreef’s facilities in Gdansk are currently building a new cat. The baby will spend summers in the Northeast and winters in the Bahamas and the Caribbean after it is delivered.

As an escape from northern winters, the Caribbean will offer a wonderful escape, the owner says.
