The New 50-foot Yacht From Wally Can Do a Crazy 50 Knots

Wally’s latest addition to its fleet, named the wallypower50, effectively bridges the size gap within the esteemed Italian yard’s portfolio. Positioned between the more compact tenders and the larger motor yachts, this 50-foot model offers versatility as both a chase boat and a family cruiser.

Wally’s Managing Director, Stefano de Vivo, emphasized the significance of the wallypower50, stating that it exemplifies the evolution of their offerings and underscores Wally’s ongoing commitment to innovation in the market.

Debuting at the Cannes Yachting Festival, this newcomer boasts the same sleek lines and deep-V hull seen in its larger counterparts but can also be equipped with the practical wraparound fender found in smaller tenders. This feature caters to those seeking enhanced functionality.

Practicality is central to the yacht’s layout, with the aft deck featuring two separate sunbeds instead of a centralized sun pad, maximizing available space. The deck further offers expandable wings that can open to provide an additional 65 square feet of room.

The upper cockpit adds to the comfort, offering plush seating for eight individuals, complemented by forward-facing bench seats accommodating four more passengers. Below deck, the spacious open-plan living quarters include a double bed, a generously sized couch, and a bathroom featuring a separate shower. Wally aptly describes it as the “ultimate weekender pied-a-terre.”

Of course, a Wally vessel is not merely about aesthetics; it must excel on the water. The wallypower50 is equipped with twin Volvo Penta IPS650s, achieving a top speed of 36 knots and an impressive range of 240 nautical miles. For those seeking even more exhilaration, the “X” variant offers quad 400 hp Mercury outboards, propelling the yacht to a thrilling 48 knots at full throttle while maintaining the same range. For the ultimate thrill-seekers, a “Racing” configuration is available, featuring 500 hp Mercury engines capable of propelling the vessel to speeds exceeding 50 knots, albeit with a reduced range of 180 nautical miles.

It appears that the wallypower50 has not only addressed the size gap but also brought an exciting speed dimension to Wally’s esteemed lineup.
