New Minimalist Design 239-Foot Megayacht by Jay Aberdoni

Jay Aberdoni is revolutionizing maritime design with his signature minimalist style.

Formerly associated with Alberto Mancini Yacht Design, the Spanish designer has recently introduced a groundbreaking megayacht concept characterized by its strikingly simple silhouette. In an email exchange with Robb Report, Aberdoni shared his vision, stating, “This design was conceived to capture that classic elegance that yachting is all about.”

Named Day One, the new 239-footer pays homage to the minimalist ethos of the 1960s and ‘70s. Artists, designers, and architects of the minimalist movement emphasized extreme simplicity, favoring basic geometric shapes and clean lines—a philosophy Aberdoni has embraced wholeheartedly. With Day One, he has crafted a geometrical marvel, where concentric circles intersect with long, horizontal lines, creating a captivating visual contrast. “Every surface is a sublime expression of confidence and style, which is only suited for the nonconformists,” adds the designer.

Day One transcends conventional boundaries, featuring low bulwarks, some of which are glass, and retractable sliding doors that seamlessly merge indoor and outdoor spaces. The layout is meticulously designed to facilitate fluid movement both vertically and horizontally, ensuring effortless access to all areas of the vessel.

Accommodations on Day One include six cabins capable of hosting up to 11 guests. The pièce de résistance is the owner’s suite, boasting a dedicated bow terrace complete with a Jacuzzi and an infinity lounge. Interior highlights extend to a lavish cinema and an upscale upper-deck dining area.

The stern of Day One hosts a multitude of entertainment features. The tender garage, cleverly concealed behind sliding wooden slats, provides discreet access when needed. Additionally, the transom and side terraces can be expanded to create additional waterfront relaxation spaces. Completing the ensemble, the main deck boasts a spacious pool, while the aft beach club is equipped with a gym and spa.

Regarding propulsion, Aberdoni disclosed to Robb Report that no specific system has been defined for Day One, leaving prospective owners the flexibility to choose between Diesel, hybrid, or electric options.

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Aberdoni has previously introduced remarkable creations such as the 272-foot megayacht Dust, the 236-foot superyacht Posterity, and the 262-foot explorer Prelude. Notably, all his designs feature pirate flags at the stern—a signature touch adding a touch of maximalism to his otherwise minimalist aesthetic.
