New 394-Foot Custom Superyacht, Largest Amels Yet

It seems that the latest Amels superyacht isn’t just large—it’s also exquisitely designed.

On Tuesday, the first interior renders of Project Tanzanite were unveiled, hinting that the living spaces might be even more remarkable than the impressive 394-foot length of the vessel. Crafted by the Nice-based studio Zuretti Design, the interior exudes a chic and contemporary aesthetic, blending a neutral color palette of creams and browns with opulent wood accents and polished marble surfaces. The addition of bold artwork, vibrant cushions, and striking lighting elements injects a touch of personality into the otherwise understated decor.

According to the yard, “Sumptuous materials and finishes adorn the living spaces, creating an atmosphere of refined elegance that surpasses traditional standards.”

Originally commissioned in 2020, the five-deck Tanzanite was transported to Damen’s facility in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, for outfitting in June of last year. (For those unfamiliar, Damen acquired Amels in 1991.) The naval architecture was undertaken by Damen’s in-house team, while the exterior design was crafted by Espen Øino. (This esteemed studio has previously collaborated with the yard on projects such as the Amels 60 and Amels 80.) Tanzanite boasts a sleek and angular design, featuring a distinctive diagonal ventilation line amidships.

With an impressive beam measuring approximately 56 feet, the vessel will comfortably accommodate 22 guests and 44 crew members. Currently, Tanzanite holds the distinction of being the largest yacht under construction in the Netherlands. However, her achievements don’t end there. Upon her scheduled delivery in 2025, this custom cruiser will claim the title of the largest member of the Amels fleet, surpassing the current flagship, the 272-foot Here Comes the Sun, by a significant margin of 102 feet. Furthermore, Tanzanite will also become the largest motor yacht ever built in the Netherlands upon her launch.

In addition to her grandeur, Tanzanite will integrate cutting-edge green technology to minimize her environmental footprint. Equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system powering the Kongsberg Elegance pods, the yacht is expected to achieve a top speed of 18 knots while emitting fewer emissions compared to traditional diesel-powered vessels. Amels asserts that Tanzanite will operate with “the lowest levels of noise and vibration ever recorded on a yacht of this size.”

It appears that Tanzanite will not only be grand and aesthetically pleasing but also prioritize environmental sustainability.
