An 80-foot Catamaran With a Helipad Roof

Archipelago Yachts is embarking on its most ambitious endeavor yet.

The renowned British shipyard recently introduced its latest creation: the Archipelago 80, a magnificent 80-foot model set to become the flagship of the fleet upon its launch. This explorer catamaran promises seafarers unparalleled luxury as they venture to the most remote destinations.

The inaugural hull of the Archipelago 80 is being crafted for a visionary owner who shares the yard’s fervor for pushing the boundaries of maritime exploration, as noted by Archipelago founder Stephen Weatherley. Based on a Chartwell Marine multihull renowned for its extensive use in the offshore wind industry, this vessel offers superior stability compared to traditional monohulls.

Equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system, the catamaran can achieve a maximum speed of 30 knots when fully powered. For those seeking even greater power, an optional generator capable of providing an additional 180 kW of electrical power is available. Moreover, the vessel can be fitted with a paravane kite to reduce overall fuel consumption and potentially enhance speed.

“This model epitomizes ultimate versatility within a sub-79-foot owner-operator platform and embodies our commitment to delivering extraordinary experiences on the water,” remarked Weatherley in a statement. “I am thrilled to witness the realization of this project and eagerly anticipate welcoming the customer aboard for unforgettable voyages at sea.”

The interior of the Archipelago 80 features an expansive open-plan main salon complete with a bar, a day galley, and panoramic windows offering breathtaking views. The two hulls house accommodations for up to 12 guests, the main galley, and crew quarters, while the wheelhouse serves as a flexible entertainment space with an additional bar and alfresco seating. Additionally, the option to add a hot tub to the wheelhouse’s shaded balcony provides further indulgence.

With its substantial exterior decks, the Archipelago 80 offers ample space for various activities. The aft cockpit boasts a large “working area” suitable for storing tenders, toys, or expedition equipment, with a built-in crane capable of handling a 20-foot ISO container or a personal submersible. Alternatively, this area can be transformed into an outdoor entertainment space or utilized for fishing expeditions.

In a crowning touch, the Archipelago 80 features a rooftop helipad facilitating seamless arrivals and departures at sea. For those interested in sustainable energy solutions, the roof can be adorned with solar panels to generate additional green energy.
