CRN, a storied yacht builder with over 400 vessels crafted in its 60-plus-year history, remains at the forefront of innovation in yacht design. Part of the Ferretti Group, CRN recently revealed it has secured a contract for a groundbreaking 220-foot custom yacht, pushing the boundaries of sustainable luxury.
Designated as hull number 146, this new yacht will feature exterior and interior designs by Nuvolari Lenard, a distinguished Italian studio that has collaborated with CRN on at least 10 yachts since 2001. Their past projects include the 180-foot Atlante, the 203-foot Voice, and the 197-foot Comfortably Numb. The new megayacht, constructed from a blend of steel and aluminum, promises sleek lines and an elegant aesthetic, embodying the owner’s vision. Every element, from naval architecture and engineering to design and construction, has been customized to meet the owner’s specific desires.
As expected, the yacht will boast an array of luxurious amenities. The stern will feature an expansive beach club stocked with a variety of water toys for guests. The upper deck will house a touch-and-go helipad, allowing for seamless arrivals and departures at sea. Additionally, the dive center will be fully equipped for underwater exploration, offering guests the tools needed to delve into the deep ocean.
However, the yacht’s most remarkable feature may be its eco-friendly attributes. Hull 146 will be powered by a cutting-edge diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system, which CRN claims is more efficient and consumes less fuel than traditional systems. Hybrids can operate solely on electricity, thereby reducing emissions and fuel costs. While CRN has not provided specific speed and range estimates, the environmental benefits are clear.
Moreover, the yacht will incorporate an innovative heat recovery system. This system will harness thermal energy from the generators to heat the water in the pools, the water boilers, and the deck washing system, further decreasing fuel consumption. The Ferretti Group’s superyacht yard in Ancona is currently constructing three other custom cruisers: the 220-foot Project Maranello, the 230-foot Project Thunderball, and a grand 279-footer.
