Steve Harvey’s $15M Atlanta Mansion

Those walls will never be short of laughter, first Madea and then Steve Harvey. According to TMZ, funnyman and talk-show host Harvey and his wife Marjorie just bought the former movie mogul and actor Tyler Perry’s Atlanta mansion in the affluent Buckhead neighborhood for $15 million.

Considering all the content they produce, Harvey and Perry could probably start their own TV network. In addition to hosting “Showtime at the Apollo,” Perry has shows on BET, Netflix, OWN, Nickelodeon, and more. As for Harvey, 63, he is an omnipresent face on the small screen, hosting shows like “Celebrity Family Feud,” “The Miss Universe Competition,” and “Showtime at the Apollo.” They both came from homeless backgrounds and lived in their cars before becoming popular.

After having the unabashedly opulent 35,000-square-foot house on the market for almost two years with an initial asking price of million, Perry sold it for $17.5 million in 2016. The property made real estate waves as the most expensive residential sale in Atlanta history, despite a multimillion-dollar difference between the original asking price and the recorded sale price.

This seven-bed, 9.5-bath spread has a lot to offer, so take a deep breath before you start reading through it. Among other features are the 17 acres of manicured lawns surrounded by trimmed gardens, a 70,000-gallon infinity-edged pool, tennis courts, gyms, and spas. Additionally, the estate has a guesthouse, a guardhouse, a detached caretaker suite, and an advanced security system and backup generator that can supply power to the entire property. Additionally, the French Provincial style main residence features a state-of-the-art theater, an indoor swimming pool, wine cellar, and an underground ballroom with catering kitchen, as well as numerous formal and informal living spaces and entertaining areas.

A former businessman turned evangelist who made his fortune manufacturing dried fruit and nuts, David Turner, was the buyer for Perry and the seller for Harvey, according to buckhead.com. There are almost as many crazy reasons as to why he spent $17.5 million on a home.

“I went online and I saw this house, and that’s when I felt like God told me, ‘This is your house,’” he told the site.

When Turner sold the property, without taking into account carrying costs, improvements, and hefty realtor fees, he took a staggering $2.5 million loss.

A 6,500-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 6.5-bath mansion in Little Elm, Texas, which Harvey is currently selling at close to “.1 million, is also among Harvey’s other holdings. The former Perry, however, lived in a $100,000-per-month rental mansion above Beverly Hills, Calif., in an exclusive gated community called Beverly Park, before he bought the former Perry estate.

Aside from Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry live in a 24,000 square foot house owned by Perry.
