Miranda Priestly’s Manhattan Townhouse in the movie “The Devil Wears Prada” sold for $26.5 Million

Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly’s chic Upper East Side townhouse from the 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada” has been sold for $26.5 million to an undisclosed buyer, a million dollars less than the initial asking price set by hedge-fund mogul Craig Effron and his wife Caryn back in May. This impressive Neo-Italian Renaissance structure, spanning 22 feet in width and originally constructed in the early 1900s by architect Henry Allan Jacobs, boasts seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms across 12,000 square feet spread over five levels, accessible via an elevator or a magnificent spiral staircase. The property also includes a full basement with a recreation room and a roof terrace with a hot tub.

Some of the standout features within the townhouse include a formal gallery with a marble fireplace and an elegant Murano chandelier, a welcoming den adorned with Anigre wood paneling, and a living room with two fireplaces, custom bookshelves, and three sets of arched French doors. The fireside dining room is illuminated by a cerulean blue chandelier and opens onto a terrace, while the gourmet kitchen is equipped with a distinctive gingham-patterned floor, Carrara marble and stainless countertops, vintage 1930s industrial lighting, top-of-the-line Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, and an adjoining breakfast room.

The luxurious master retreat boasts a Juliette balcony, a fireplace, a spacious walk-in closet, and a lavish bathroom with dual vanities, a dressing area, and a soaking tub beneath a 5-foot-tall oculus window. Additionally, there’s another bedroom that has been converted into a mirrored gym and fireside library, as well as a custom basketball court. Notably, the townhouse is situated across the street from Gloria Steinem’s residence.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Douglas Elliman’s Corey Shuster, working alongside fellow agents Arthur Maglio and Ibrahim Guldiken, represented the buyer and confirmed that the purchaser had been actively searching for a townhouse in the neighborhood for approximately 18 months. When this particular property became available, it perfectly met their criteria. The listing was managed by Adam Modlin of Modlin Group.
