David Spade for $14M Sunset Strip Mansion

Before joining “Saturday Night Live” as a writer and cast member in the early 1990s, David Spade appeared on single episodes of “The Facts of Life” and “Baywatch”. In addition to his three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Writing in a Variety or Music Program while at SNL, he starred in several sophomoric comedies and the long-running sitcom “Just Shoot Me!” (1997-2003), which earned him a fourth Emmy nomination.

Following “Grown Ups” (2010), the animated movie “Hotel Transylvania” hauled in $358.1 million in worldwide receipts, while a few roles in box office barn burners followed.

It has been reported that the notorious ladies’ man, who has dated some bombshell actresses, has been nominated for two Golden Raspberry Awards for his role in the critically acclaimed Netflix romantic comedy “The Wrong Missy.” He is also set to appear in Diablo Cody’s untitled upcoming TV series.

As a stand-up comic, actor, writer, and TV host, the now 57-year-old has accumulated a fortune over his 30+ years that has allowed him to upgrade his residential circumstances from a lavish, celebrity-pedigreed Beverly Hills home to a $13,85-million contemporary show-stopper set into a sweeping curve just above the Sunset Strip with its massive boxy top peeking out over towering hedges.

The agency’s Farrah Brittany and Mauricio Umansky listed the mansion, while Hilton & Hyland’s Stuart Vetterick represented Spade in the deal, who negotiated a substantial discount off the asking price of .45 million.

Promotional material for the architectural home indicates that it was designed by George Kurczyn to “embody California’s coveted indoor-outdoor lifestyle,” with “warm and intimate” interior spaces perfect for entertaining and nesting in solitude. The three-story home has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, as well as three powder rooms, and is serviced by an elevator and a muscular glass and steel staircase.

Turkish limestone floors, marble and stone accent walls, and a state-of-the-art home automation system complement the gated motor court and ten-foot-tall front door. A linear two-way fireplace anchors each end of the hotel ballroom-sized combination living and dining room, and pocket doors slide into the walls to open the room to a grassy yard and swimming pool.

An elegantly appointed kitchen opens out to a grassy yard and dining terrace with a built-in barbecue, while a second kitchen with its service entrance adjoins a bedroom and bathroom for staff.

The house also has a library/den covered in smooth, wheat-colored paneling and a family room with a linear fireplace and a massive television flush-mounted into the wall.

There are two luxuriously appointed guest bedrooms and a sprawling master suite on the upper level, along with a lounge and gym.

Featuring a sitting area with a fireplace, a breakfast bar, and a private balcony with an outdoor fireplace, the primary suite floats above the city lights.

Dual dressing rooms and two marble-clad baths, one with a dry sauna and the other with a steam shower, are also included.

A marble bar and club room on the lower level, a 1,200-bottle wine display room, and a 20-foot-wide screen in the state-of-the-art theater complete the entertainer’s paradise.

A hidden panic room with a power source and bathroom is also located on the lower level, as well as a private guest suite with a private loggia.

At least two other properties in Los Angeles are owned by Spade, who once owned a beachfront house on Malibu’s La Costa Beach that Ted Sarandos sold for $10.225 million in 2013 (it was sold for $14.7 million earlier this year to apparel tycoon Richard Saghian). Along with his longtime Beverly Hills home, which he bought for $4 million in 2001 and was once owned by both Eddie Murphy and Warren Beatty, he bought a slickly renovated Spanish bungalow in West Hollywood in a clandestine off-market deal last year for about $2.3 million.
