Tom Petty’s $9.9M Malibu Bungalow

The beachside house with a cozy wooden interior and a 1950s charm, where he spent his weekends, inspired him to write the song “Something Good Coming”, which he called something good coming because he spent most of the weekend there.

“There’s somethin’ lucky about this place,” said to Tom Petty. The Malibu beach house that inspired the late rock legend’s song “Something Good Coming” has just been listed on the market for $9.85 million, according to co-listing agent Gary Schwartz.

There is a charming 2,200 square-foot main house, a separate guest house that Petty used as a recording studio, and 66 feet of beach frontage on Escondido Beach along with the property, according to the Rich Report. There is 66 feet of frontage along the beach along with a spacious and secluded brick patio as well as a rose garden, and there is also a spacious and secluded brick patio with a rose garden.

As the musician, it appears that the California bungalow-style house, which has three bedrooms and an equal number of bathrooms, was built in 1950 and still retains a comfortable midcentury cabin vibe throughout its wood-paneled interior, which is what attracted the musician to it. “Tommy loved that the beach house was pretty much all original,” said his wife, Dana Petty. “I remember him writing so many songs there.”

On the main floor, there is a floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace that separates the open-plan living area from the kitchen, both of which feature exposed beam vaulted ceilings, wood plank floors, and retro wooden paneling all of which combine to create a unique design. Through our sliding glass doors, another side of the living room is overshadowed by a gorgeous ocean view deck that offers a sweeping view of the ocean. The listing is held by Chris Cortazzo of Compass, who also sold the property to the iconic musician back in 2010. “When Tom first walked into the home, he just loved the essence and the spirit. He loved its originality–it was unpretentious, which was very much his spirit,” Cortazzo said.
