Rihanna Acquired Matthew Perry’s Former L.A. Penthouse

Just shy of a year after Rihanna made headlines with her $21 million purchase of one of the most luxurious condos in the greater Los Angeles area, the Barbadian music icon has decided to put the sky-high penthouse back on the market, this time asking just under $25 million. Situated within The Century skyscraper near the lively Wilshire Corridor in Century City, the penthouse occupies the entire 40th floor, boasting over 9,000 square feet of living space, exquisite custom touches, and breathtaking views, making it a fitting residence for any A-list celebrity.

Reportedly, Rihanna never took up residence in her lavish penthouse and has been quietly seeking a buyer for the property off-market over the past few months. Current listings showcase the meticulously staged interiors of the residence. The 36-year-old billionaire acquired the condo last spring from Nick Molnar, the billionaire co-founder of tech company Afterpay, who himself purchased the property less than two years earlier from the late Matthew Perry.

During Perry’s four-year ownership, the beloved Friends actor undertook extensive customization of the penthouse in collaboration with architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Pagano. It appears that neither Molnar nor Rihanna made substantial alterations to Perry’s original designs.

Upon arrival via a private elevator landing, guests are greeted by an entrance gallery leading into the living room, featuring a striking curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing sweeping skyline vistas. Rich dark brown hardwood floors extend into the dining room, complemented by an all-white kitchen boasting marble countertops, dual islands, and high-end appliances.

Among the property’s amenities is a soundproof movie theater outfitted with plush velour couches, as well as a master suite comprising a curved bedroom, dual bespoke closets, dual bathrooms, and a private lounge area. However, the penthouse’s most remarkable features are its four distinct outdoor terraces, offering unobstructed views in all directions—north, south, east, and west—encompassing panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, Downtown Los Angeles skyscrapers, the San Gabriel mountains, and even the snow-capped Mount Baldy.

Notable neighbors at The Century include Denzel Washington and reality TV personalities Terry and Heather Dubrow. Moreover, Candy Spelling, renowned socialite and widow of television producer Aaron Spelling, occupies the famed two-floor penthouse directly above Rihanna’s residence, spanning the 41st and 42nd floors of the building.

Constructed around 2010 and envisioned by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, The Century has reigned as Century City’s premier residential skyscraper since its inception. Rihanna’s penthouse comes with a substantial monthly HOA fee of $8,814, affording her access to an array of top-tier amenities, including four designated parking spaces in the underground garage, round-the-clock concierge and security services, a landscaped outdoor swimming pool and gardens, on-site storage facilities, a private restaurant, conference rooms, and more.

Additionally, Rihanna owns another smaller condo within The Century, but her primary residence remains a $14 million mansion nestled in the hills above Beverly Hills. As reported by Forbes, the chart-topping artist behind hits like “We Found Love” now holds the title of the world’s wealthiest female musician, boasting a net worth of $1.4 billion.
