Jeff Bezos’ Indian Creek Island Property

Jeff Bezos’s real estate acquisitions in South Florida show no signs of slowing down.

According to a recent report from Bloomberg, the Amazon titan has invested a staggering $90 million in an undisclosed transaction for a third waterfront property on the coveted Indian Creek Island. This latest purchase comes as Bezos, who recently ranked third on Forbes’s list of the world’s wealthiest individuals, plans to reside in the six-bedroom mansion while renovations are underway at his two previously acquired residences.

Property records reveal that Bezos’s new estate last changed hands in 1998 for a modest $2.5 million, highlighting the dramatic surge in home prices within the guarded and prestigious Billionaire Bunker enclave. As reported by The Real Deal, the approximately two-acre property was originally constructed in 1956 and has undergone expansions in 1986 and 2014. The expansive estate boasts amenities such as a swimming pool, a boat dock overlooking Biscayne Bay, and a sprawling 10,000 square feet of living space.

In November of last year, Bezos, the former CEO of Amazon, announced his decision to relocate from Seattle to Miami via an Instagram post, citing a desire to be closer to family, including his parents and fiancée, Lauren Sanchez. Expressing nostalgia for Seattle, where he had resided for an extended period, Bezos acknowledged the emotional aspect of the move while emphasizing his excitement for the new chapter in Miami.

Earlier in August 2023, Bezos made headlines with the acquisition of a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home on Indian Creek Island in a discreet, off-market transaction valued at $68 million. Shortly thereafter, he secured the adjacent property in another secretive deal, this time for $79 million, expanding his real estate portfolio on the island. The second residence, featuring seven bedrooms and spanning over 19,000 square feet, further solidified Bezos’s foothold on the exclusive enclave.

With these acquisitions, Bezos now commands ownership of three of the approximately 40 residences situated on the 300-acre island, amassing a total investment of nearly a quarter of a billion dollars—precisely $237 million, to be exact.

Indian Creek Island counts among its residents prominent figures such as Tom Brady, Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and investor Carl Icahn. Accessible from the mainland via a brief bridge connection, the gated community offers exclusive amenities including a private 18-hole golf course and access to the country club, further enhancing its allure among the elite.
