Lamborghini Is No Match for This Electric Car

Five-door Kia EV6 GTs go from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, faster than Ferrari Californias, Lamborghinis, Porsche 911 Targas, and Mercedes AMG GTs.

From an upstart Korean automaker, we recently received Kia’s all-electric EV6 GT. It has previously been mentioned that Kia (and its sister brands, Hyundai, and especially Genesis) are known for their innovative products and designs. No exception applies to the hatchback Scamp. As a matter of fact, it is kind of the current category leader, electric or not.

It can sprint from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds thanks to its all-wheel drive and 576 horsepower. In a quarter-mile dash, that beats a Ferrari California, a Lamborghini Urus, a Porsche 911 Targa, and a Mercedes AMG GT. With a starting price of $62,695, the Kia isn’t cheap. The CLA45 offers better performance than the like-priced Audi RS3 and Mercedes CLA45, which are both six-figure cars.

However, the Kia is more than just a one-trick pony. It is capable of much more than that. With great steering feel, easily modulated brakes, and a nice balance between ride and handling, it’s dynamic and fun to drive. In addition, it has a refined rush of silent propulsion, like most electric cars. If one feels like it, one can select from three piped-in electronic soundtracks-Stylish, Cyber, and Dynamic-that all sound like what a dragon might say in an arcade game from the 1980s.

A Lebanese Canadian designer Karim Habib, formerly of BMW and Mercedes, designed the Kia’s unique, wind-cheating shape. In addition to offering more interior room, its compact platform also offers more interior storage than many hulking full-size SUVs due to its clever packaging (which lacks an engine, transmission, exhaust system, and gas tank). It also offers advanced driver assistance systems that can save lives and save time thanks to a giant, curved LCD screen inside. A thoughtful combination of bins, cubbies, and storage spaces completes the package.

Furthermore, the EV6 exhibits a key characteristic of contemporary life. With its instant torque and speed, electric power has begun to further disambiguate the connection between high performance and certain vehicle types – primarily sports cars – that have dominated internal combustion engines for so long. As a result, cars that don’t look like traditional high-performance vehicles gain prominence.

‍This is well-known to Kia. “Good design, in my personal view, and the view that we try to follow, is authentic. We try not to fake things. And so if you do have something that has performance, then it’s totally legitimate to show it,” Habib tells Rich Report. “But I think aggressive performance seems less and less relevant and less and less interesting these days. And definitely it’s not a value we subscribe to. Performance should be more about your own personal enjoyment.”

In an interesting way, this aesthetic is subversive. Products must adhere to certain parameters to force change on consumers. He summarized these parameters with the acronym MAYA: most advanced yet acceptable. In spite of its futuristic appearance, the EV6 GT performs every function a car should, and does so well. This vehicle does everything a normal car should – it’s fast, comfortable, sure-footed, commodious, and technologically sophisticated just like a spaceship, and as fast and comfortable as a sports car. You’re missing out if you don’t keep an eye on Kia.
