A $1.7 Million 325-inch LG 8K TV

Each of the brand’s new DVLED TVs contains 2 million to 33 million LED diodes.

With its latest LED TVs, LG appears to be asking: why have a wall TV unless it takes up the entire wall?

Direct View LED (DVLED) Extreme Home Cinema sets from the electronics giant are now available for purchase, with the largest measuring a mind-blowing 325 inches diagonally. In the past, the TV was only available to commercial clients, but now you can get your hands on it too, even if it costs a small fortune.

It’s true that LG’s DVLED isn’t the first TV we’ve seen mounted to the wall–that’s the Samsung Wall—but it uses LG’s unique LED-as-pixel technology to display content on the wall. In most LED TVs, pixels are created by an LCD layer, but LG’s new TVs use LED diodes instead (three for each pixel). This guarantees vibrant colors and truer contrast, all without the risk of burn-in that comes with flat screens. Moreover, the panel can display a single image or several images simultaneously in customized shapes.‍

It takes a lot of LED diodes to accommodate the 325-inch unit (up to 33 million), so these TVs are so large. LG offers a variety of very large DVLED sizes. The Full-HD version can be found in sizes ranging from 81 to 215 inches; the 4K model can be found in sizes ranging from 163 to 325 inches; and finally, the 8K model is available in one size — 325 inches. In its 23.6 feet by 13.3 feet frame and weighing 2,222 pounds, the top-of-the-line DVLED model packs 33 million LED diodes.

A full price list hasn’t yet been announced for the lineup, but CNET reports that its top-of-the-line model will cost $1.7 million. This is more than the Bentley Bentayga, Continental, and Flying Spur combined, with plenty of room for another supercar. On the plus side, the theater-sized TV comes with a complimentary five-year customer service package which the brand values at $30,000. With a TV this big, we suspect you’ll need it.
