The $100,000 ‘Space Jam’ Tourbillon

A good dose of ’90s nostalgia is packed into this timepiece, which features 281 hand-made components.

A timepiece honoring the new movie Space Jam: A New Legacy has been unveiled by Kross Studio.

As part of its high-complication tourbillon collection, the Swiss outfit nods to both the nostalgic world of Looney Tunes and basketball while demonstrating true technical mastery.

Featuring Space Jam motifs and complex mechanics, the wristwatch features a 45mm titanium case with a sapphire crystal dome. The unique timepiece is made up of 281 hand-crafted components, enough to make Wile E. Coyote’s head spin.

It is characterized by a skeletonized tourbillon cage that resembles a basketball and highlights the regulator beneath. In contrast, a blue fixed hour wheel features Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian, and the entire cast of Loony Tunes characters. Meanwhile, the hands are attached to a peripheral display mechanism that rotates around the tourbillon 360 degrees.

With a single oversized mainspring barrel, the 3Hz manual-wound KS 7000 caliber movement is capable of offering a five-day power reserve. You can view the movement through the back window. A Push-button and a D-ring crown are used to wind and set the watch.

There are two different strap options for the watch, including a deep blue leather option and an orange rubber strap that mimics the color and texture of a basketball.

In addition, the Space Jam tourbillon is housed in a presentation box that is also a basketball kinetic sculpture. Forged from aluminum and oak, the B-ball actually unlocks with a simple twist to reveal a special place to store the timepiece. The pedestal is adorned with the Looney Tunes squad.

A Star Wars Death Star tourbillon priced at $150,000 was released earlier this year by Kross Design.

Space Jam collector set will set you back $100,000, just like its predecessor. Limited to 10, it’s priced at $100,000.
