McLaren and Richard Mille’s Speedtail Inspired Watch

Just 106 examples will be produced of the McLaren Speedtail RM 40-01 Automatic Tourbillon

Luxury’s hottest partnership has just something even more sexier about it.

106 examples of Richard Mille’s “extreme” watch will be produced as part of their latest collaboration between McLaren and Richard Mille.

It is one of McLaren’s most technologically advanced cars. The futuristic coupe can accelerate from zero to 186 mph in 12.5 seconds with 1,070 horsepower and 848 ft lbs of torque. Its top speed is 250 mph, making it the world’s fastest road car.

With a teardrop shape like the supercar, the RM 40-01 Automatic Tourbillon McLaren Speedtail certainly lives up to this extremely high standard. In the same vein as the supercar, it took 18 months and five prototypes to perfect. 69 parts make up the case. In addition to a titanium bezel and caseback, it is equipped with an asymmetrical strap and an orange accent at 6 o’clock. Furthermore, it has a titanium bezel, caseback, and carbon TPT caseband.

Aside from its impressive horological “engine,” the watch was developed over 8,600 hours. The in-house CRMT4 movement fills the entire case with 37 jewels and Grade 5 titanium bridges, screws, baseplate, and rotor core. Aside from the power reserve indicator, this watch has an oversize date and function selector complications, all of which are new features for automatic tourbillons.

McLaren and McLaren haven’t yet announced pricing for the RM 40-01 Automatic Tourbillion Speedtail. The price is expected to be high based on past collaborations, such as the McLaren 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph, which launched at $189,360 and was only available in 500 pieces.
