The 1967 Ferrari Dino 206 S

One of just two examples of this gorgeous sports racer equipped with the powerful Tipo 233 engine, which is currently up for auction.

If you’re looking to land this Ferrari, you might want to put the pedal to the metal in order to land the deal.

An amazing 1967 Dino 206 S is being auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s in Florida as part of their upcoming auction. Aside from being one of the most beautiful sports racers of the era, this particular car also happens to be one of just two examples of this particular model built with the Tipo 233 engine, a relatively rare and powerful engine.

As a member of the FIA’s 2-liter Group 4 race series, the Dino 206 S was designed and built to compete against the best in the world. Basically, the Prancing Horse was trying to steal private racing clients from the rival Porsche company as a way to gain competitive advantage. There were originally going to be 50 examples of this racer built by the marque, but things didn’t go as smoothly as expected and only 18 examples of the racer ended up being built.

It can be said that only 13 of those had bodywork designed by Piero Drogo that was reminiscent of the Spyder. As this is the last of those cars, it is also one of just two that is equipped with the Tipo 233, making it one of the most exclusive versions of a vehicle that already possesses a high level of rarity.‍

There is a special example of this chassis, chassis 032, that features an open-top glass cockpit and a curvaceous body made of stressed alloy panels and fiberglass that make up its surface. The car has been finished in Ferrari’s trademark Rosso Corsa color and rides on a set of bright yellow wheels that are shod with racing tires, for it to look outrageous. On the inside, you will discover a black interior, as well as two seats that are particularly striking as they are red in color.

As opposed to the first Dino 206 S racers that were powered by a Tipo 227 that made 220 horsepower, this instance used a more powerful Tipo 233 that produced 270 horsepower. As well as the car, the engine has also been seen in some racing action over the years. A Ferrari historian, Marcel Massini, has found evidence that the racer competed in several hill climbs in 1966 and 1967, and that he made a number of podium finishes.

This racer has been in many Ferrari collections around the world since that time, including Pierre Bardinon’s Mas du Clos, one of the finest Ferrari collections in the world. Red Book certification is included, and it has been restored in 2014, so you know you are getting a good deal.

Rich Report states that the vehicle is not listed with a price estimation, however, anyone interested in purchasing the vehicle can get in touch with the owner for more information regarding the vehicle. As a result, we expect that this earlier Dino 206 S auctioned by the auction house back in 2014 sold for $2.2 million, so we predict it will definitely sell for a significant amount as well, especially since a previous Dino 206 S auctioned by the auction house back in 2011 also sold for $2.2 million.
