One of Los Angeles’ most famous neighborhoods will soon have two fewer A-list residents.
Privately guarded neighborhoods like this have long been popular with showbiz types. The privately guarded neighborhood, which is located in Coldwater Canyon in the Beverly Hills Post Office area, is part of Los Angeles despite its name. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, as well as Jennifer Lawrence, Guy Oseary, Nicole Kidman, and Keith Urban own the property. Adele owns three homes in the leafy enclave, two next to each other and one across the street. As a result, the neighborhood seems to have lost some of its celebrity-attracting pixie dust. There have been a number of famous couples who have moved out in recent years, including Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, and Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. The almost $19.5 million asking price hung on Perry’s place is a good notch above the not quite $18 million the Platinum-selling pop star paid Canadian construction heir and high-end property developer Cody Leibel for the just over one-acre estate almost five years ago, shortly after she and Bloom married. Her earnings are, however, nowhere near the $25 million she earns as a judge on “American Idol,” or the $168 million she earned during her high-camp 32-concert residency at Resorts World Las Vegas earlier this year, which has been extended with 16 more shows due to its success.
“When I’m Gone” singer and Bloom have become engaged, have a toddler daughter named Daisy, and recently paid $14.2 million for an aristocratic nine-plus acre spread in Montecito, near Perry’s hometown of Santa Barbara. She and Bloom also acquired the four- and possibly five-bedroom and 5.5-bath estate.
A quarter mile-long driveway leads to Perry’s vine-encrusted European villa, which measures about 5,500 square feet and sits amid “a forest of parkland,” according to listings by Hilton & Hyland’s Brett Lawyer.
There is a skylight-topped foyer, a step-down living room with verdant views of the grounds, and a formal dining room that spills out to an al fresco dining patio. With tie-dyed curtains, the library’s denim-blue walls are enhanced, the kitchen is casual but high-end with a huge T-shaped island, and the lower level contains a media/family room, while a gym with all the equipment necessary to keep the pop star and her boyfriend fit and healthy is complemented by a sauna, cold plunge, and shower.
Due to its proximity to protected open lands, the estate provides a sense of privacy. It features lush, manicured grounds, mature shade trees, a large treehouse, and an infinity-edge swimming pool with spillover spa. Franklin Canyon’s system of trails is accessible directly from the neighborhood, and private hiking trails wind around the estate.
A celebrity property watcher will recall that Perry owns a second home in the neighborhood, which was sold last year for less than $7.5 million, and Bloom has tried to sell his Beverly Hills house several times since it first appeared on the market in early 2019.
