Sturge & Toth, a renowned British design firm, has unveiled a cutting-edge new fleet for their fellow British entity, Falcon Tenders.
Named after the ancient Roman sword, the Gladius line encompasses a range of sleek tenders tailored to meet the needs of seafaring enthusiasts. The inaugural model, referred to as the Gladius Gullwing Limousine, aspires to blend the elegance of a Venetian gentleman’s tender with the technological advancements of modern runabouts.
Measuring 33 feet in length, this hybrid newcomer boasts a design inspired by its namesake, featuring a hull constructed from green epoxy composites and finished with a high-gloss paint reminiscent of a gleaming sword. Sturge & Toth explains that the limousine also draws design inspiration from the agile swordfish, ensuring swift navigation through the water.
The vessel is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system and lithium battery banks, offering the flexibility to cruise at speeds of up to 10 knots using electric power alone or reach an impressive top speed of 35 knots with the diesel engine engaged. This innovative configuration significantly reduces emissions, noise levels, and vibrations while enhancing overall fuel efficiency.
Upon boarding, passengers are greeted by a convertible cabin featuring stylish gullwing doors, evoking a retro-futuristic ambiance akin to a maritime DeLorean. The vessel also boasts a retractable glass top that can be opened to enjoy sunny weather.
The spacious and well-lit interior is thoughtfully designed, featuring entertainment screens, ambient lighting, Champagne coolers, and plush seating to comfortably accommodate up to 12 passengers. The vessel’s fixtures and fittings are meticulously crafted from premium materials, including polished 316-grade stainless steel, with the option for customized upholstery and finishes to cater to individual preferences. The studio takes pride in curating from a diverse selection of top-tier suppliers, showcasing elements such as Scottish Muirhead leather sofas, bamboo paneling, and ceramic flooring.
Toby Sturge, co-founder of the studio, remarked, “In this vessel, we have distilled the very essence of our craft, and it stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to beauty, performance, and the relentless pursuit of the extraordinary.”
As anticipation builds for the release of additional models in the Gladius fleet, it remains to be seen if they will uphold the same standards of excellence as the inaugural limousine.
