Richard Mille’s First Women’s Sports Watch

Richard Mille’s most recent release places a spotlight on female empowerment with the introduction of the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport, marking the brand’s inaugural women’s sports watch. Available in six vibrant color options, this wristwatch seamlessly combines style with functionality. Developed over three years, the timepiece is not only exceptionally lightweight at just 36 grams, including the Velcro strap but also robust enough for active athletes. The collaborative effort includes renowned sportswomen such as golfer Nelly Korda, runner Nafi Thiam, high jumper Yuliya Levchenko, snowboarder Ester Ledecká, and racing drivers Aurora Straus and Margot Laffite.

The watch’s trademark tonneau-shaped case, measuring 30 mm, is crafted from either Quartz TPT or Carbon TPT, ensuring protection for the movement while minimizing overall weight. The case features curved edges for enhanced comfort during wear. Powering the timepiece is Richard Mille’s newly developed compact automatic movement, the skeletonized CRMA8 caliber made from titanium, providing shock resistance and capable of withstanding up to 5,000 Gs of acceleration. With a water resistance of 164 feet (50 meters), the watch also boasts a 50-hour power reserve.

A notable feature is the function selector, alleviating pressure on winding the stem. Positioned at four o’clock, a push-button enables the wearer to effortlessly switch between neutral (N), winding (W), or time-setting (H) positions with a simple press. The selected function is then displayed by a hand at 5 o’clock.

Cécile Guenat, Richard Mille’s creative and development director, emphasized the collection’s dual focus on aesthetics and technicality, stating, “Offering a women’s skeleton sports watch is a gamble that few have dared to take. This collection is as much about aesthetics as it is about technicity.”

In terms of aesthetics, the Carbon TPT model exhibits a subtle black hue, while the Quartz TPT variants come in creamy white, mauve, salmon, green, and dark blue. The titanium crown, baseplate, bridges, and signature insert further enhance the watch’s distinctive design. Although marketed as a women’s watch, the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport is versatile and can be worn by any gender, with a price tag of approximately $185,000.
