The motion picture’s music can even be played on cue.
It has just the right amount of pizzazz and promises to be a true scene-stealer once worn. It’s based on Brian De Palma’s undeniably influential film Scarface.
Jacob & Co.’s master watchmakers went all out with this limited-edition timepiece.
As part of the brand’s legendary opera collection, the new Opera Scarface features an integrated 120-note music box and strikes a powerful note. With just a press of the pusher at 10 o’clock, the dial starts rotating 120 degrees as the “Bolivia” theme from the 1983 American crime drama begins to play. A patented differential system keeps the time display in the correct 12/6 position throughout all of these theatrics.
The domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal case features further cinematic references. Along with a striking bright red Scarface nameplate featuring a silhouette of Tony Montana himself, there’s an 18K gold, black lacquered piano, with keys that move as the music plays.
Jacob & Co.’s signature triple-axis tourbillon movement winds up the watch’s side with an 18K rose gold violin-shaped crank. On one axis, it turns in 24 seconds, on the second axis, it turns in eight seconds, and on the third axis, it turns in 72 seconds. In the center of the movement is a rose gold globe that mirrors the globe found in Tony Montana’s Miami mansion, which is engraved with “The World is Yours.”
In addition to being able to run for 42 hours straight, the music box can be played three times before it needs to be wound again since the power reserves for the movement and the music box are separate. With its 18K rose gold accents, the watch is available in either black DLC titanium or rose gold.
Jacob & Co. is now selling the Opera Scarface watch, limited to just 88 pieces.
