Jacob & Co.’s Newest $580,000 ‘Fast & Furious’ Watch

This wrist candy is limited to just nine examples and costs half a million dollars.

Since the first Fast & Furious movie, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and a handful of hot rods have tear it up on the big screen, it’s been 20 years. Jacob & Co. has launched a new timepiece that celebrates the franchise and its menacing rides, celebrating its multibillion-dollar success.

With a ton of unabashed references to the 2001 flick, this limited-edition wrist candy is a riff on the watchmaker’s high-tech, high-speed Twin Turbo Furious.

An 88-part stainless steel bezel and textured black carbon case house the watch, which measures 57mm by 52mm. There is a large sapphire crystal dial adorned with images from The Fast and the Furious and the film’s logo. On the left is Vin Diesel’s 1970 Dodge Charger, on the right is Paul Walker’s souped-up Toyota Supra. A “starting girl” occupyes center stage flanked by the two most famous muscle cars from the first film.

The intricate inner workings of the timepiece, too, rival those of a high-octane street racer. It is equipped with twin triple-axis tourbillons that rotate in unison at lightning-fast speeds of 24, 48, and 180 seconds. In addition to providing a striking visual feature, the multi-axis tourbillons compensate for gravity’s effects regardless of where your wrist is held. The power reserve indicator is styled like a fuel gauge between the two escapements.

Additionally, the timepiece is equipped with a decimal minute repeater that emits chimes at 10-minute intervals, like a melodic motor.

There are a staggering 832 components in the Jacob & Co. caliber JCFM05, a manual-winding movement. The sapphire crystal case back allows a great view of the movement.‍

The watch also features a column-wheel monopusher chronograph for timing your four-wheeler sprints, as well as a mechanical time reference indicator that resembles a pit board.

“Our Twin Turbo Furious is such a natural fit for the Fast & Furious franchise,” Benjamin Arabov, Jacob & Co. CEO, stated. “Jacob & Co. has been in many important and successful partnerships, but we have never partnered with an entity that so closely fits our DNA.”

A limited edition of nine watches will be sold for $580,000 along with the latest film in the series, F9.
