The luxurious Lucid Air EV has been selected as the official shuttle for the Red Sea International Airport (RSIA) in Saudi Arabia. While the standard Lucid Air is available in only six color options, the airport’s Lucid Air EVs will feature a unique teal exterior finish, adding to their appeal. This marks the first time Lucid Air has been chosen as the official transportation at any airport worldwide. The electric luxury sedan, often considered a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model S, entered production two years ago. The top-tier Dream Edition R boasts an impressive EPA range of up to 520 miles, making it the EV with the longest range rated by the EPA.
Located in Hanak, Tabuk, in northwestern Saudi Arabia, the Red Sea International Airport was designed by the renowned British architectural firm Foster + Partners. Situated just 9 miles inland from the Red Sea coastline, RSIA is anticipated to accommodate up to one million passengers annually by 2030, serving tourists visiting The Red Sea Project, a prominent resort destination.
The multi-billion-dollar project is an integral part of Saudi Vision 2030, an initiative aimed at diversifying the Kingdom’s economy by boosting tourism and reducing dependence on oil revenues. It is funded by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, which also holds a 60% stake in Lucid Motors and has committed to investing $1.8 billion in the American EV manufacturer. Additionally, Lucid has obtained permission to construct a manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, close to the Red Sea Project.
