Unbelievable Details of the Tesla Cybertrucks

Wall Street analysts believe there might be an additional reason behind the potential scarcity of Tesla Cybertrucks on the roads in the coming years. Elon Musk had previously cautioned that the production of the first electric truck would take time before reaching “volume” production, leading many to believe it was due to the vehicle’s complexity. However, Business Insider suggests that Tesla might also be strategically limiting production to maintain high demand.

Investment banks, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and UBS, have varying estimates for Cybertruck production at Tesla’s Austin Gigafactory in the next two years. While they project Tesla could build 48,500 units in 2024, forecasts for 2025 range from 78,000 to 230,000 units. Morgan Stanley is the most cautious, predicting Tesla to produce 30,000 Cybertrucks in 2023 and 78,000 in 2025, totaling 108,000 units in the pickup’s first two years. Analyst Adam Jones suggested that Tesla might follow Ferrari’s strategy of limited series production to maintain scarcity and focus resources on more profitable products.

Jones wrote in a research note, “Will Tesla take a page out of Ferrari’s playbook of limited series production? The company may decide to purposely limit series production to maintain scarcity while focusing company resources on more profitable products.” While Tesla claims to have over one million pre-orders for the Cybertruck, skepticism exists due to the low deposit requirement of $100. If only 20 percent of pre-orders are converted to purchases, Tesla might struggle to meet demand even after two years, as per Morgan Stanley’s forecast.

The potential intentional limitation of production could create an artificial scarcity, following a strategy similar to Ferrari, and help sustain demand for the Cybertruck over an extended period. Despite criticisms and skepticism, the Cybertruck remains a unique and intriguing electric vehicle, and its limited production could contribute to maintaining its appeal in the market.

Tesla has not commented on these speculations, leaving the actual production strategy for the Cybertruck unclear. Regardless of the approach taken, the Cybertruck is expected to generate considerable interest due to its distinctive design and position as one of the most unconventional electric trucks available.
