The car will be available for Gran Turismo 7 players.

Digital is the future for the Prancing Horse.

Before the end of the year, Ferrari’s latest video game, Gran Turismo, will feature a race car concept it unveiled just now. As part of the Vision Gran Turismo program, which dates back to 2013, the Italian marque has produced the first original vehicle for the racing franchise.

In its futuristic racer, Ferrari is referring to it as Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo. The Maranello-based brand embraced its virtual car as an opportunity to let loose, creating the most stylish and high-performance vehicle it could imagine, just as Lamborghini and Porsche did before it. This single-seater looks comparatively restrained to the brand’s upcoming Le Mans racer, the 499P.

There’s no doubt that Ferrari’s latest concept resembles a rocket ship more than it does a race car. Its layout is similar to that of the company’s open-wheel Formula 1 car, but its curvaceous body encompasses everything, including the cockpit, at the center. The shape of the racer may look a bit out there, but it’s specifically designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, which is why a spoiler and gigantic rear wing are present. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the marque’s first race car, the 125 S, a razor-thin light package and “75” badges complete the package.

A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 powers the Vision Gran Turismo, but it is assisted by three electric motors – one at the front axle and one at the rear, allowing it to drive all-wheels. In addition to the internal combustion engine producing 1,015 hp, the trio of electric motors produce 322 hp, which is combined with the eight-speed, dual-clutch gearbox from the company’s F1 car. Under two seconds is said to be the acceleration time from zero to 62 mph and the top speed is 217 mph, according to Ferrari.

‍Getting to experience the wild concepts for ourselves is one of the best parts of the Vision Gran Turismo program. Starting Friday, Dec. 23, Ferrari’s racer will be available to drive in Gran Turismo 7 (the winning campaign quizster will have access early). In addition to existing in the virtual world, the car will also be displayed in the automaker’s museum as a full-scale model.
