Praga’s Lightweight Track Monster Supercar

Get ready to add another supercar to your wishlist because Praga, the Czech brand that recently made a comeback, has just announced the commencement of production for its first supercar, the Bohema. What makes this vehicle particularly intriguing is that it is powered by the engine found in the current Nissan GT-R.

While the Praga name might not be widely recognized in the United States, it boasts a rich history dating back to 1907. Once one of Europe’s largest car brands during the first half of the 20th century, Praga faced challenges due to World War II disruptions and eventually ceased car production by the late 1940s. However, the brand made a return in 2011 with the introduction of the R1 race car, and now, more than a decade later, it is making a comeback with the Bohema, its first road-legal vehicle in over seventy years.

Although the full debut of the Bohema is expected later this spring, preliminary images released by the automaker closely resemble the pre-production version revealed in November 2022. The supercar features a low-slung design reminiscent of Le Mans sports prototypes, with distinctive bulbous fenders, a bubble cockpit, and a prominent rear wing. While its lines are sharper and less defined than Pagani’s Utopia hypercar, the Bohema is designed for aerodynamic efficiency.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of the Bohema is its powertrain. While some may expect a supercar to house a V-12 or at least a V-10, the Bohema defies expectations with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine, shared with the Nissan GT-R. Despite the V-6 configuration, this twin-turbocharged engine has been meticulously tuned to deliver an impressive 700 horsepower and 535 lb-ft of torque. With a weight of just 2,200 pounds, the Bohema can reach a top speed exceeding 186 mph. Notably, the Bohema relies solely on a gasoline-powered setup, a rarity in an automotive landscape increasingly dominated by electrification.

Praga plans to handcraft a limited production run of only 89 units for the Bohema, with deliveries of this road-ready supercar expected to commence later in the year. The starting price for this exclusive vehicle is set at around $1.4 million.
