Introducing the Buggati Mistral

Some individuals acquire hypercars due to a genuine passion for automotive excellence, while others view them purely as investment opportunities. An individual, likely falling into the latter category, is currently seeking to sell their Bugatti Mistral build slot, reports Hagerty. The unidentified seller aims to flip the rights to this groundbreaking roadster for more than $9 million, a substantial premium over the initial asking price.

The Mistral is currently listed for sale on the German auto marketplace Mobile for €8,539,900 after fees and taxes, equivalent to approximately $9.3 million. This asking price is notably high, especially considering that when Bugatti initially opened orders for the open-top model in 2022, it was available for $5.5 million.

Although the seller’s asking price may seem extravagant, there’s a possibility that a wealthy collector or enthusiast may express interest. The Mistral, named after a powerful wind in the Rhône River valley, is a limited edition with only 99 units planned by the French marque. Based on the outgoing Chiron, this speed machine boasts a striking exterior inspired by the iconic 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid. While it lacks the V-shaped windscreen of its predecessor, it features a wraparound A-pillar design creating a visor for the driver.

Beyond its visual appeal, the Mistral’s major selling point is that it will be the final Bugatti model equipped with a W-16 engine. The 8.0-liter engine, identical to the one in the Chiron Super Sport 300+, produces an astounding 1,577 horsepower, enabling the coupé to surpass 300 mph. Although the Mistral won’t match that speed, Bugatti aims for it to become the world’s fastest roadster, a title currently held by the 266-mph Venom GT Spyder.

The listing indicates that the available Mistral is black with a black-and-yellow interior. It remains unclear whether this will be the finalized color scheme or if customization options are available. Regardless, Mobile mentions that the car will be delivered in approximately four months, aligning with the expected conclusion of Chiron production.
