Introducing “La Voiture Noire” Bugatti

In modern-day automotive history, only one-off hypercars have been produced.

In celebration of Bugatti’s 110th anniversary, Bugatti unveiled “La Voiture Noire” at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It’s a contemporary reimagining of the iconic Type 57SC Atlantic, which first appeared at the 1933 Paris Motor Show.

With the caption, “Past? Future? It does not matter what year it is anymore. When you want something so badly, it’s always Day 1 of the chase. See you on May 31st, 2021.” Bugatti posted teaser photos of “La Voiture Noire” parked alongside French landmarks like the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower this past week.

La Voiture Noire” supercar fans can expect the engine to produce 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, similar to the Bugatti Chiron. The body of the car is constructed from carbon-fiber and appears to be a single piece, giving it a dynamic, sleek appearance. It features a rear fascia with six exhaust pipes, adding to the hypercar’s price, while taking design cues from the Type 57SC Atlantic.

The most expensive new car ever made is “La Voiture Noire”, which is valued at $18 million USD. There has been speculation that former Volkswagen Group chairman Ferdinand Piech acquired the one-off hypercar, but the owner hasn’t been officially revealed.
