In celebrity real estate, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner appear to have caught a classic case of fickleness. Their 1980s waterfront mansion in an exclusive Miami enclave, which they purchased for just over a year ago for $11 million, has been put on the market for almost $17 million, despite having bought it only a year ago for $11 million. From Los Angeles, where they sold a mansion in Encino to DJ Zedd for $15.2 million, the couple moved to Miami and settled in the guarded Bay Point neighborhood. In addition to Enrique Inglesias and retired tennis player Anna Kournikova, listing agent Carl Gambino of Compass told The Wall Street Journal that other high-profile residents include the couple.
With nearly 10,500 square feet of living space and eight and a half bathrooms, the Jonas-Turner home occupies a .37-acre waterfront corner parcel. Throughout the marketing material, it is claimed that the home is reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s legendary creations. There are some of the architect’s signature elements in the design, including carefully chosen organic materials used in innovative and unexpected ways, and airy, light-filled spaces with enormous windows that provide easy access to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
To refresh the place, the couple hired interior designer Sarah Ivory. A lush, tropical vertical garden was installed in the soaring, coral-walled atrium entry, replacing the water features. With deep tufted, low-slung furnishings covered in rich jewel-toned fabrics and an amoebic gold coffee table, the living room’s 30-foot-high living room is set upon a plum-hued silk rug under a lavender glass chandelier as plush foils to the massive coral stone fireplace and geometric wood frieze.Additionally, a sleek, chef-friendly kitchen features an island topped with a stone counter that falls over the ends, and an elegant dining area furnished with hand-painted jungle themed de Gournay wallpaper. Old-school Palm Beach vibe is enhanced by the vintage Venetian glass chandelier and bamboo chairs painted in Lilly Pulitzer shades.
The mostly monochromatic bedrooms feature paler, more muted hues, while the family room features a Mah Jong sofa designed by Hans Hopfer, upholstered in Missoni Home fabrics.
There are two swimming pools, one for the grownups and one for the kids, located outside among lush foliage, emerald carpets of turf, and lighted trees. 94-foot dock that provides easy access to both the bay and the open waters of the Atlantic is separated from the pool by a low coral stone wall and a towering row of palm trees.
It is unclear whether Turner and Jonas will repurchase in Miami, head back to Los Angeles, or maybe even relocate to Turner’s native England, since Gambino declined to disclose why they are selling so soon after they moved in. In the meantime, they still have a place to call home in Manhattan, a three-bedroom loft in Nolita that they bought in 2018 for .6 million. They unsuccessfully attempted to sell it in 2020, first for $6 million, then for $5.9 million, and finally for $5.4 million before it was sold.
