Cole Sprouse Buys Midcentury Post and Beam Masterpiece

In the past few years, nearly all of the cast of “Riverdale” has bought stunning new homes in the greater Los Angeles area. Due to the show’s success, the cast has become real estate barons. A Silver Lake bungalow was purchased by Camila Mendes, an Outpost Estates outpost was purchased by Madelaine Petsch, a quirk-filled Silver Lake compound was purchased by Charles Melton, a Spanish-style Encino home was purchased by Lili Reinhart, and a renovated Nichols Canyon apartment was purchased by KJ Apa.

Cole Sprouse, the hot-tempered nonconformist Jughead Jones on “Riverdale” who is now joining them on their real-life real estate quest, has paid nearly $3 million for a striking modernist house deep in the Hollywood Hills. The 2,500-square-foot structure boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms, but that’s just the beginning of its unique story.Cole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeCole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeCalifornia, United States Luxury Real Estate Home | California ListingsCalifornia, United States Luxury Real Estate Home | California ListingsSprouse’s house boasts a solid architectural pedigree in addition to being pretty darn stylish. The property was originally built in 1949 for “Mr. Magoo” co-creator Millard Kaufman and was a rare collaboration between three outstanding midcentury architects: Richard Neutra, Alexander Ban, and Josef Van der Kar. In the mid-’50s, several years after Neutra had completed the house, Kaufman hired him again to expand the house’s lower level.

Despite holding onto the house for nearly 50 years, Kaufman eventually sold it in 1997. In the early 2000s, noted architecture preservationist Michael LaFetra briefly owned the property. Last sold in 2016 for “.3 million, the house underwent a significant renovation in 2017. The owner renovated all the bathrooms, installed a brand-new kitchen, and refinished the hardwood floors.

Located near Cahuenga Pass in the Hollywood Hills, the property is completely gated and walled for privacy. A two-car garage in front with a modern door has been updated. On its way to the main house, a pebble-stone pathway meanders past the pool. The house itself is hidden from the street due to its heavily wooded lot.

As you enter the home, the glass front door pivots into a great room with lofted and beamed ceilings, abundant skylights, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and original paneling.Cole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeCole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeCole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeCole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeCole Sprouse House Tour: Photos of His Hollywood HomeThis terrazzo-floored room is warmed by a massive brick fireplace. A new kitchen adjoins the great room and boasts stylish tile floors, an eat-in island, and Bertazzoni appliances. A skylight and clerestory windows add an air of ethereality to this space.

Neutra’s signature style is evident throughout the home’s lower level, which is devoted exclusively to the master retreat. A grassy lawn with plenty of space for Fido surrounds a built-in firepit, while an outside patio offers peek-a-boo views of the San Fernando Valley skyline.

Not to mention the 1,200-square-foot outdoor deck, which offers multiple al fresco entertaining and lounging options. As described in the listing, the lagoon-like pool is surrounded by jungle-like trees and boasts a “beach-style entry.”

With his twin brother Dylan Sprouse, who also lives in L.A., Sprouse first became famous as a child actor in the mid-2000s when they became Disney Channel’s highest-paid stars with the success of “Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” With dozens of film and television credits to his name, Cole has become increasingly in demand as an actor, even though he’s best known for “Riverdale.”
