In this secluded hilltop retreat, the “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” star has lived for nine years.
The country singer’s sprawling Tennessee mansion isn’t being sold cheap, with a $23 million asking price.
In both the state and the celebrity-rich enclave of Franklin, just a line dance from Nashville, aka Music City USA, if it sells for anything close to asking, it will be the most expensive pad ever sold.Sweetbriar is an expansive hilltop estate spread over 22,000 square feet, with five bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, and the ability to garage up to 15 cars.
Jackson, who has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, and his author wife Denise purchased the spread for $795,000. In a style described by Farris on his website as “New England Country,” the imposing stone house was designed by architect-to-the-country stars Ron Farris.
The driveway leads to a large motor court in front of the main house, where the foyer features a sweeping wood-and-wrought-iron staircase flanked by a two-story window.Featuring beautiful wood floors, paneling, and arched windows, the interior is decorated in a traditional and elegant style.
The house includes a formal reception room with a fireplace, a formal dining room with seating for 10, a formal sitting room, and “grand public rooms,” according to listing agent Rick French of French King Fine Properties.
There is a 10-seat movie room and a wood-walled TV room with a belly-up bar that are less stuffy.
The expansive primary suite offers a cloister-ceilinged bedroom with French doors opening to a terrace, as well as dual bathrooms, one of which has a marble-edged soaking tub and tall French doors leading to a balcony.
The property includes a swimming pool and pool house, a large expanse of manicured lawn, a paved area around the fire pit, and a large, covered loggia with stone arches and a stone fireplace.According to reports, Jackson also owns another 84 homes in the area, which include a large roof-top deck with sun loungers and tables.
With two stone-faced garage buildings, the home will surely appeal to car enthusiasts. Inside, there’s room for 15 cars in heated and air-conditioned comfort.
There is no way to know for sure how many cars Jackson owns, but his eclectic collection includes everything from a 1929 Bentley Le Mans and a 1928 Stutz Black Hawk Boattail Speedster to a collection of 1970s American muscle cars, an Amphicar, and a 1977 Ford Bronco.
The refrigerator-white 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible Jackson bought at the age of 15 for his first date with his wife takes pride of place in the collection. Apparently, Denise Jackson bought him back the car for his birthday after selling it for a down payment on their first home.
The Jacksons lived in an 18,600-square-foot, a custom-built mansion in Franklin called Sweetbriar before building Laurelbrooke, which was allegedly modeled after Tara in Gone With the Wind.
In 2010, Willis Johnson, founder of Copart salvage car auction, bought the home for million after first listing it for $38 million.
If the Jacksons sell, there’s no telling where they’ll move. Just don’t expect it to be too far from the Grand Old Opry.
