The saying goes that two instances make a coincidence, and three create a trend. Following this logic, rose-colored yachts might be on the brink of becoming the latest trend in the boating world.
Baltic Yachts recently revealed a new sloop featuring a distinctive pastel-pink hull. While this bold color choice is a first for the Finnish yard, it appears to be gaining traction in the industry. Last October, VisionF showcased an 80-foot catamaran with a pink hue, and in February and June of the same year, Bilgin Yachts and Rossinavi introduced superyachts with red exteriors. Baltic yachts, known for building the world’s largest carbon-fiber sloop with a hot-pink sail, seems to continue pushing the boundaries of yacht aesthetics.
Teased initially in November 2022, the Baltic 80 Custom is positioned as a versatile sailing yacht capable of both offshore cruising and high-speed racing. Commissioned by an experienced owner with a preference for excellent handling, the vessel features a self-tacking jib set on a wide track for easy navigation. While the rig design is pending confirmation, the yacht will incorporate an in-boom furling system.
Designed by the German studio Judel/Vrolijk & Co, the exterior boasts sleek lines and a distinctive reverse-angle stem. Constructed using advanced composites, prepreg materials, and a foam core, the yacht’s low-level coachroof includes a fold-down dodger and bimini for weather protection.
Equipped with twin rudders, a lifting keel, and a conventional propulsion system with a folding propeller, the Baltic 80 Custom is positioned as a remarkable performance cruiser-racer. Though specific details about the estimated top speed are yet to be disclosed, Baltic promises exceptional performance.
Internally, the yacht’s living spaces comprise three double cabins for six guests and an additional cabin for a two-person crew. The interior design, a collaborative effort between Baltic, Jens Paulus, and Axel Vervoordt, is set to enhance the onboard experience. Notably, the yacht will feature an oversized stern garage capable of accommodating a Williams 395 tender.
With construction already underway, Baltic aims to deliver the 80 Custom by this summer. Simultaneously, the shipyard is also working on a 65-foot custom sloop, the Baltic 65 Custom. Designed by the American naval architects at Sparkman & Stephens, this sophisticated daysailer is anticipated to join the fleet this year, and who knows, it might also sport a vibrant pink finish.
