Kate Upton and her pro baseball star husband Justin Verlander have put their former Los Angeles estate up for sale now that they have settled into their new $6.6 million mansion in Jupiter, a prestigious Florida city. It is a bold move for the couple to ask $11.75 million for the prime property — an impressive amount of profit over their 2016 purchase price of $5.3 million.
According to listing pictures from then and now, Upton and Verlander — who have been married since 2017, have completely remodeled the house in a contemporary style. The East Coast-inspired traditional structure, originally constructed in 1976, boasts four bedrooms, five bathrooms and overlooks a championship tennis court in addition to spanning 5,500 square feet. In the mountains over Beverly Hills, far into Benedict Canyon, the place is nestled behind a long, gated driveway, on a 1.55-acre property.
There is a celebrity pedigree in the lush estate as well. The Peterses acquired the property in 2004 from tennis champ Pete Sampras, who purchased the property from Grammy winner Kenny G. Mindy Peters, the ex-wife of “Batman” producer Jon Peters, who sold it to the Upton-Verlanders in 2004.
Those who purchase the estate will also benefit from celebrity neighbors, assuming they are interested in that sort of thing. Located next door to this house is a guard-gated compound owned by Vin Diesel, and other famous people in the area include Eva Longoria, Cameron Diaz, and John Mayer.
Sycamores and redwood trees tower over the house, and big hedges in front keep it hidden from passersby.
The Tesla logo appears on Vin Diesel’s sports court (or something very similar to it), as well as Kobe Bryant’s “Mamba” symbol, as a helpful commenter pointed out.
For such an expensive and large home, the entryway is surprisingly modest and unpretentious.
On the inside, however, a considerable amount of money has been spent on the various public rooms, including the stunning stone fireplace in the living room and French doors leading onto the lawn.
The new kitchen features high-end appliances and pricey quartz countertops, as well as a formal dining room.
In addition to the kitchen, there is a breakfast nook with a banquette style.
There are whitewashed walls, white oak floors, and vaulted ceilings in the family room, as in nearly all other rooms of the house.
In addition, there are two media rooms, a wet bar, and a temperature-controlled wine room.
The house also has two more family bedrooms – both with ensuites – and a separate guest/staff suite upstairs. The upstairs primary suite is decorated in calming neutrals, and it has a fireplace and sitting area.
Featuring a soaking tub, dual sinks, and a steam shower, the primary bathroom errs on the feminine side.
There is ample space to entertain al fresco on the brick patio, surrounded by manicured boxwood hedges and rose bushes.
Overlooking Benedict Canyon, the dark-bottomed pool is surrounded by trees and forested slopes.
The Sampras-approved tennis court is fully lighted for nighttime play. And when the hunger cravings hit, never fear — though this property is wonderfully secluded, the perennially chic Beverly Hills Hotel is just a 10-minute car ride away.
