Ellen DeGeneres’ Beverly Hills estate sold for $45 million

Although the deal went down way back in May, it has only just been revealed that the mystery buyers who dropped $45 million on the Beverly Hills home of Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi are high-flying venture capitalist Mood Rowghani and his wife Tara Dhingra, a former Uber employee and close associate of Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick. Although that price is considerably lower than the $53.5 million the couple originally sought for the celeb-pedigreed home, it’s still more than the $42.5 million they paid for it in May 2019.Front of home.Pavilion and backyard.Main living room. While growing up in Texas and based in Silicon Valley, Rowghani co-led Kleiner Perkins’ $1 billion Digital Growth fund before leaving to co-founded Bond, the multibillion-dollar growth firm. At Kleiner Perkins, Rowghani led the firm’s early investments in Uber, Stripe, Waze, MyFitnessPal, and a wide range of high-value tech companies, generating huge profits for the firm. As Twitter’s former CFO and COO, he is also the younger brother of veteran tech tycoon Ali Rowghani.

Despite being the current principal at Travis Kalanick’s billion-dollar family office, Dhingra previously worked for Uber in “Special Projects” before leaving it.

The past year has been another real estate whirlwind for DeGeneres and de Rossi, who recently purchased another 90210 homes, sold their $55 million Montecito estate, and bought two other Montecito properties. Additionally, they spent $14.3 million buying back a historic Montecito ranch they owned from 2017-2018.Ellen DeGeneres Sells Beverly Hills Estate for $47 MillionEllen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Sell Beverly Hills Home for $47M (PHOTOS) | Pricey PadsEllen DeGeneres Sells Beverly Hills Home She Bought From Adam Levine | Architectural DigestEllen DeGeneres Sells Beverly Hills Home for Roughly $47 Million - WSJInside Ellen DeGeneres' house - currently for sale in Beverly Hills Inside Ellen DeGeneres home - currently for sale in Beverly Hills | Homes & GardensInside Ellen DeGeneres's $33 Million Beverly Hills MansionDhingra-Rowghani Beverly Hills estate, a 1933 English Tudor-style mansion designed by noted architect John Byers, sits on more than an acre of grounds and boasts a string of notable past owners. In the early and mid-aughts, tennis legend Pete Sampras owned the property. He sold it in 2008 to “Will & Grace” creator Max Mutchnick and his husband, attorney Erik Hyman, for nearly $17 million. After being renovated and photographed by Elle Décor, the property was sold for nearly million off-market in 2018 to Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo of Maroon 5. In just a short amount of time, Levine flipped the house to DeGeneres and de Rossi, who had only owned it for a short period of time.

Bob Safai and Brian Lane of Madison Residential represented the buyers; Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency held the listing.
