Playing the main theme from the most iconic movie of all time.
To mark the 50th Anniversary of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, Jacob & Co. has released a $500,000 USD music box tourbillon.
With a full collector’s set including a watch, a Montegrappa pen, and an engraved crystal decanter, the Opera Godfather 50th Anniversary is not short on talking points.
With a movement consisting of 634 components, the 49mm watch includes a triple-axis flying tourbillon and a music box complication that plays Nino Rota’s ‘The Godfather’ theme with 120 pins against two combs and a red enamel rose at its center. The movement rotates inside the case and contains 120 pins.
The Godfather is a great film not only for how it was filmed and directed, but also for the great scenes and dialogue it contains.” says Benjamin Arabov, Jacob & Co. CEO.
This sentiment is reflected both inside and outside the case of the watch. Music box complication’s twin rose gold barrels are engraved with the movie’s most memorable quotes – including “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse” – on the outside, bringing new dialogue to the surface.
Using medical-grade ‘femtolaser’ technology, 13 photo-realistic scenes from the film are engraved on the 18K gray gold caseband over 30 hours, allowing for 256 tones.
Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co, was 14 when he moved from Uzbekistan to the U.S., and his first movie was The Godfather.
