Meet New 78 to 164 Feet GX Superyachts Hybrid

At the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show (MYS), Greenline Yachts didn’t just introduce a new yacht model but made a bold move by unveiling an entirely new brand: GX Superyachts. This exciting addition marks a significant development in the world of sustainable yachting, pushing the Slovenian shipyard into the superyacht arena. Known for their commitment to hybrid technology, Greenline has now expanded its reach with the introduction of custom aluminum hybrid yachts that range from 78 to 164 feet in length, a considerable leap from their previous models that topped out at 58 feet.

The inspiration for this new brand didn’t emerge overnight. In fact, the seeds were planted back in 2018, during a previous Monaco Yacht Show, when Greenline’s electric 33-footer caught the attention of none other than Prince Albert II of Monaco. The Prince was so impressed with the vessel that he requested an escort to the Monaco Yacht Club aboard it. That significant moment not only validated Greenline’s efforts but also motivated the team to take their green technology to the next level, expanding into the superyacht market with a strong focus on sustainability and hybrid propulsion.

The GX Superyachts are designed to feature cutting-edge hybrid propulsion systems, incorporating a high-efficiency hull and an extensive solar array. These yachts offer flexibility, seamlessly switching between diesel and electric power. This dual capability allows owners to choose between zero-emission cruising or faster speeds when desired. According to Greenline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Luca Raumland, these yachts boast an impressive range. In electric mode, the GX yachts can travel up to 100 nautical miles at a steady pace of six knots. In diesel mode, the range is even more remarkable, as the yachts are capable of crossing the Atlantic at 12 knots. For those opting for maximum fuel efficiency, the GX range can cover 11,571 nautical miles at six knots, making it a versatile option for long-distance cruising.

One of the standout features of the GX Superyachts is their commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Greenline estimates that these hybrids will produce 40 percent fewer emissions than traditional diesel-powered yachts of similar size. In addition to their hybrid propulsion, each GX yacht will be equipped with solar panels and a large lithium battery bank. This innovative combination will provide enough energy to power the yacht’s hotel load—lighting, appliances, and other onboard systems—for at least 48 hours without the need for noisy generators, offering a clean, silent, and eco-friendly solution.

The design of the GX range is another area where these yachts shine. The renowned Italian designer Marco Casali of Too Design has lent his expertise to craft sleek, sporty profiles for the GX lineup. Each model will be available in two distinct variants to cater to different owner preferences. The Coupé version is designed with a long, curved superstructure, complemented by a roof that opens at the push of a button, revealing a sundeck equipped with a jacuzzi and bar. The second option, the Raised Pilot House (RPH) version, offers a more expansive flybridge and larger living spaces, ideal for those who prioritize onboard comfort and panoramic views. Both versions will feature spacious beach clubs with fold-down wings and hydraulic swim platforms, providing easy access to the water and an expanded leisure area when at anchor.

Greenline has already secured its first customer for the GX range. The shipyard is currently building a 138-foot model for an existing client. As the GX yachts are too large to be constructed at Greenline’s Slovenian facility, the company has partnered with SES Yachts in Tuzla, Turkey, to bring these superyachts to life. This collaboration will allow Greenline to scale its production while maintaining its commitment to quality and innovation.

The 138-foot GX42 RPH model under construction promises to be a showcase of luxury and craftsmanship. It will feature bespoke leatherwork by Foglizzo, elegant natural wood flooring by Cadorin, and custom furniture from high-end brands like Poltrona Frau and Rugiano. With 50 percent of the hull already complete, the yacht is slated to be ready for delivery by the summer of 2026.

This expansion into the superyacht sector represents a new chapter for Greenline Yachts, one that blends their existing expertise in hybrid technology with a fresh approach to luxury yacht design. The GX Superyachts range not only aims to meet the needs of eco-conscious yacht owners but also challenges the traditional notions of superyacht performance and design. By offering reduced emissions, versatile propulsion options, and high-end customization, GX is set to become a major player in the competitive world of superyachts.
