In addition to 20 restaurants, a zero-waste farmer’s market, and a bowling alley, MV Narrative will feature a zero-waste farmer’s market on board.
This new project allows you to travel the high seas year-round in luxury accommodations if you enjoy life on the high seas.
It was announced on Tuesday that Storylines, a private residential shipmaker, and Croatian shipyard Brodosplit, a shipbuilding company, have signed a contract to build what they are calling the world’s first environmentally conscious residential ship. The 753-foot vessel, dubbed MV Narrative, is currently undergoing engineering. Retail value is estimated at $1.5 billion for the development.
As the first ship of its kind powered by liquid natural gas propulsion, the massive ship will accommodate 547 residents. During its maiden voyage, hundreds of destinations will be reached across six continents,
MV Narrative will also have a host of other features that will set it apart from a run-of-the-mill cruise ship. In addition to post offices, schools, libraries, hospitals, banks, and office spaces, the floating community also offers amenities that evoke land life. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun either.
Onboard, residents will have access to 20 dining venues and bars, as well as several pools. Personal watercraft, a bowling alley, a hydroponic garden farm, and an open-air fitness area with racquet sports, yoga sun decks, and running tracks are available in the waterfront marina (aft, lower level). There will also be a wellness center on board, the largest of its kind at sea. Once built, it will include spa and gym rooms, as well as an anti-aging clinic. It will be the largest of its kind at sea once completed.
Besides converting its waste into energy, the ship will also have a solar-powered hydroponic garden that will provide fresh food without consuming too much energy. All items offered for sale will be compostable or recyclable at a zero-waste farmer’s market.
Shannon Lee and Alister Punton, founders of Storylines, created MV Narrative.
Their goal is to “give global travelers the ability to live out their passion for exploration while still maintaining work, family, and home life,” according to a statement. “We are pleased to be building this innovative ship with Storylines,” said Tomislav Debeljak, president of Brodosplit’s board. “There are many new green technologies and ship systems we are pioneering, which makes this a very exciting project for us.”
A limited number of 24-year leases starting at $647,500 will be available for residences ranging from ” million to $8 million.
