Alfa Nero, a hijacked $120 million superyacht, may have gone dark last year, but its owner, Russian billionaire Andrey Guryev, was placed on the map. Since then, a lot has transpired. The FBI pursued and seized the motor yacht, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda prepared to auction the exquisite Alfa Nero, which had been docked at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina since February 2022, and a new owner emerged. The Guryevs may have disputed ownership of the 269-foot steel and aluminum vessel, but their name is now associated with another spectacular leisure vessel, the $270 million Luminosity. Surprisingly, the opulent 351-foot Benetti yacht is also abandoned in Montenegro.
Fortunately, a few days after obtaining Luminosity, the billionaire was added to the sanctions list. The owner of the fertilizer company has never stepped foot on the glass palace known as Luminosity. Alfa Nero and Luminosity’s yacht management business, Burgess, had to break off contact with Guryevs and was unable to cover the crew’s wages. According to Esysman Superyacht, the crew of Luminosity has given up any prospect of receiving payment a year from now. Luminosity, the billionaire’s larger, virtually brand-new boat, contrasts with Alfa Nero.
A Kuwaiti rich businessman named Kutayba Yusuf Ahmed Alghanim, who reportedly commissioned it, refused to accept delivery of the ship. Andrei Guryev put it up for sale and acquired it, abandoning Luminosity in Montenegro after receiving punishment.
The vessel boasts 800 square meters of glass, allowing the vast ocean and the peaceful interior to coexist. Michele Bechelli, project manager at Benetti, claimed that they were some of the largest glass surfaces ever constructed on a boat.
These were essential in creating the correct ambiance because, according to interior designer Zaniz Jakubowski of Studio Zaniz, “these rooms aimed to feel at one with the sea, exposed to the ocean.
Luminosity is a spacious yacht with large deck heights and a 17.0m beam. The premium ship doesn’t fall short in terms of facilities. From an eight-month supply of food storage to an excellent galley, a medical room, and a doctor’s cabin. The wealthy billionaire may relax and revitalize for many days at a time on the owner’s deck, which is 500 square meters in size.
Together with a full-certified helideck up top and an array of tenders stashed by the helipad, the foredeck has a touch-and-go helipad. With two 3.5-meter satellite dishes to guarantee a signal everywhere in the world, Luminosity is technically sound. The boat has 500 kilometers of cable hidden inside of it, yet one would never know it.
The main saloon’s marine blue decor features natural materials like cashmere, linen, cotton velvet, and leather to create a pleasant atmosphere. Moby Dick’s lines are inscribed on the mullions, according to Boat International, “to create the ocean connection when you’re standing inside,” and the room has a large dining table that can seat 28 people and a semi-precious marble carpet with abstract sea animals inlaid in it.
The 250 square meter beach club, which has a sauna, Turkish bath, and a modern gym, is located on the lower deck.
The bespoke chandelier, which was inspired by a diamond, enhances the gorgeous pool area. What do you think of the fireplace on board if that has never happened?
With a bar that has a fake skylight and a transformer-like feature where holders open out with the push of a button, dazzlingly showing bottles, the ship is a lesson in plenty. Four guest rooms are located on the main deck and include contemporary fireplaces. The owner’s deck is reached by a magnificent passageway made of ten different varieties of marble.
The private terrace spans 2.5 meters wide, making it roomier than the main aft deck. “Two people walking next to each other is no problem,” says Bechelli. “And if you want to jog around the owner’s deck, you have a loop of more than 200 meters.” Near the owner’s apartment is a well-appointed dressing room, massage room, and bathroom.
The owner would likely do business while the owner is onboard, hence Luminosity has an office/conference room. A sophisticated mechanism powers two Azipods and six 1,000kW generators in this amazing glass palace. It also has the biggest battery pack of any boat currently in the water, enabling up to 12 hours of vibration-free, peaceful sailing without using the engines. With a cruising speed of 10kn, the superyacht Luminosity can travel over 8,000 nautical miles.
