A limited edition encrusted with diamonds is also available.
Tiffany’s Time for Speed collection combines cars, watchmaking, and fine jewelry.
With the new mechanical clock line, the house combines its expertise in watchmaking and gemsetting with its centuries-long tradition of handcrafting trophies.
Its shape is reminiscent of a 1950’s race car and features a Tiffany Blue finish. The tires are made from black rubber and contrast with stainless-steel spoked rims.
As a tribute to Tiffany’s famous Fifth Avenue flagship in New York, the front radiator grille is emblazoned with a “T&CO” monogram. The escapement and balance wheel are also displayed under a helmet-shaped glass dome on the driver’s seat. This is a clock, folks.
Below the brushed stainless-steel aperture designed to evoke a racing number, the hour and minute displays appear on the left side of the vehicle. With respect to its mechanics, you can set the time by rotating the steering wheel counterclockwise, while you can wind it by pulling the car back on a flat surface. You can think of it as a version of your childhood toy car that pulls back.
One standard clock will be offered by Tiffany’s for $40,000 and two extra-blingy limited edition models, which feature diamonds set on the wheels and bezel.
A total of 316 round brilliant diamonds totaling 19 carats are featured in the first limited edition, which is available worldwide. A striking one-carat stone stands at the center of each wheel in the first collectible. There are 192 round brilliant diamonds encircling the center of each wheel in the second collectible, which is only available in Japan.
