Winter Vacation Dreams: 5 Standout Ski Chalets

These luxurious winter villas offer privacy, posh spaces, and plenty of perks for your next group ski trip

Why stay in a hotel when you can stay in an over-the-top chalet instead? Because there are plenty of perks to choosing a home over a hotel room, including a fancy place to hang your wool hat. Chalets offer privacy to groups and families, who make up the bulk of ski trips. They can gather and socialize in common spaces; think wine by the fireside, soaks in the hot tub, and ten-person dining tables. With luxe rentals, you get a variety of services, from a private concierge to your own personal chef to an on-call masseuse. It’s like saying, at these five standout chalets, whatever you can think of, you can do.

Chalet Zeno, San Cassiano, Italy

With spectacular views of historic San Cassiano village and the breathtaking Dolomite mountains, the stylish three-bedroom Chalet Zeno is part of the family-owned Hotel Rosa Alpina. With touches such as soft gray custom-made furniture, wood finishes crafted from reclaimed trees in nearby forests, and a sprawling living room with high ceilings and a fireplace, the property was recently redesigned to feature a private entrance and a contemporary aesthetic. A sauna and Jacuzzi are available in the chalet’s outdoor garden, where skiers can relax after a long day. The hotel’s amenities also include a lavish spa, a movie theater, and a three-Michelin-starred restaurant led by Chef Norbert Niederkofler, who prepares one of his legendary tasting menus right in your room.

Prices from $8,000 a night inclusive of breakfast.

Homestead Cabin Residence, Saratoga, Wyoming

In the past, the owners of Brush Creek Ranch’s swanky Lodge & Spa lived in the Homestead, a two-story log cabin that measures more than 4,000 square feet, but added it to its accommodations list recently. The three-bedroom property comes with impressive vaulted ceilings, a wood-burning stone fireplace, an outdoor hot tub, several cozy reading nooks, and large windows framing sweeping views of the vast landscape. Winter activities are centered at Green Mountain, a 600-acre mountain retreat with miles of incredible ski trails, cross-country trails, and snowboarding areas. During your stay, you will be provided with customized meals, premium alcohol, transfers, and equipment rental.

Prices from $1,000 per person per night, are all-inclusive.

Chalet Artemis, St. Anton, Austria

The six-bedroom Chalet Artemis in St. Anton, one of the most famous ski resorts in the Tyrolean Alps, has been completely renovated for the 2019-2020 ski season. The rustic alpine décor is infused with modern touches with reclaimed wooden walls, sleek Tyson London lamps, and an archetypal Paul Smith rug that is locally sourced. It has an indoor pool of 24 feet with a jet stream (a wonder for relieving tired muscles), a sauna and steam room with eucalyptus, a massage room, a hot tub, a movie theater with velvet chairs, and a Michelin-star-worthy menu paired with wine prepared by two Cordon Bleu-trained chefs.

Prices from approximately $40,000 a week, inclusive of some meals and drinks, transfers to ski areas, and access to a 24/7 concierge.‍

Chalet les Entrennes, Bagnes, Switzerland

The six-bedroom Chalet les Entrennes is available on Airbnb Luxe near Verbier and Savoleyres. Timber wood and stone accent the interior of this Swiss Alps-style home, but the floor-to-ceiling windows with Mont Blanc views are the real stars. In addition, there is an alfresco hot tub, a mezzanine library, and a hammam. With an Airbnb rental, you’ll have access to a trip designer who can plan every aspect of your getaway, from ski lift tickets to restaurant reservations.

From $6,613 a night.‍

Chalet Hibou

In the French Alps, Eleven Experience’s Chalet Hibou overlooks the historic farming village of Le Miroir and offers seven spacious rooms with private bathrooms, an outdoor hot tub, a Finnish sauna and steam room, and a cheese, wine, and hot beverage outpost on the slopes. Within 30 minutes, guests can ski in seven world-class resorts between France and Italy, including Sainte-Foy and Tignes. Every stay includes multi-course meals, top-shelf liquor and wines, lift tickets, and transportation, and an Eleven Experience manager is always available to assist with last-minute requests.
