Jennifer Garner’s visit to Japan was filled with stunning sights, delicious food, and some experiences that pushed her personal boundaries.
On Thursday, August 15, the 52-year-old actress shared her “dream trip” on Instagram, detailing her memorable experiences and itinerary. She captioned the post, “Dream trip to Japan: a to-do list. 🇯🇵”
During her trip, Garner explored temples and shrines, soaking in the tranquility of Kyoto’s Tenryu-ji and the Kinkaku-ji Golden Pavilion. She also struck a pose in Tokyo and admired the famous 3D cat billboard in Shinjuku, playfully asking if “this guy could visit LA, please?”
Amidst her cultural explorations, Garner also dove into Japan’s culinary scene. In one photo, she’s seen wearing a bib while enjoying ramen noodles. She also shared an image of an oyster farmer collecting shellfish.
In a video she called “the triumph of the former picky eater,” Garner cautiously tries abalone for the first time. She captioned the slide with, “Honor the life forces that feed us.”
Despite her initial hesitation, she remarks, “This abalone was alive in front of us five minutes ago. We have to honor it by eating it,” before finally tasting the dish.
Other highlights of her trip included a champagne boat ride, wandering through neon-lit urban alleyways lined with bars, and taking in a serene field of water lilies. Garner also gave a nod to her Deadpool and Wolverine co-stars, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, by sharing a photo of their movie poster in Japanese.
After returning from her envy-worthy vacation, the Yes Day star was spotted visiting her ex-husband Ben Affleck on his birthday, August 15, at his Brentwood home, according to pictures obtained by Page Six.
Garner’s summer has been a whirlwind. Besides her Japan adventure, she attended San Diego Comic-Con to promote Deadpool and Wolverine, where she humorously found herself stuck in an elevator at one point.
She jokingly remarked, “Thanks for having us here. My first Comic-Con,” referencing the mishap in July.
In June, Garner also appeared on the Today Show with her mom, Pat, where they baked a cobbler together. “It’s the best to be here with my mom!” Garner said of the special moment, adding, “It’s just the sweetest. I’m so proud of her and so happy that we’re here together.”
