David Beckham’s meticulous packing routine before trips often frustrates his wife, Victoria Beckham. During a Bowers & Wilkins launch event in New York City on August 27, the former soccer star shared that his “very precise” approach to organizing his travel bags is a point of contention between them. Beckham, 49, explained that he typically packs his bags three days in advance, which contrasts sharply with Victoria’s habit of still preparing the day before departure.
Beckham also revealed that Victoria, 50, finds amusement in his habit of dressing according to their travel destination. “If we go to Italy, I dress like an Italian. If we visit Spain, I dress accordingly,” he said. Beckham believes that dressing for the destination enhances his travel experience and provides creative inspiration.
The soccer icon also discussed his travel essentials, starting with a pair of headphones that help him “block everything else out.” Another vital item for him is photographs of his family. “When I’m away from home, I like to have pictures of the kids with me,” Beckham noted. He also carries photos of Victoria, with whom he has four children: Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 13.
Additionally, Beckham shared that he likes to bring a candle on his travels, although he acknowledges that it’s not always feasible. “I like to take a candle, when I’m allowed,” he explained. “You can’t always light candles in hotels, so it’s a bit restricted.” He uses the candle to evoke a sense of home, as his house always has candles burning with a consistent scent.
The Beckhams, who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in July, often share glimpses of their family vacations. Earlier in the month, David humorously pointed out his own pet peeve about Victoria’s style during their Italian holiday. He posted an Instagram Story of her reading a book while dressed in a black sundress and wide-brimmed hat, captioning it, “Annoyingly elegant.”
Their family outings also include boat trips. In July, they enjoyed a boat excursion in France with their children, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. Victoria posted photos of the trip with the caption, “Happy summer!! Kisses,” showcasing the family enjoying the season. One photo featured Victoria relaxing on the boat with a sunset in the background, while another showed David smiling with his arm around Cruz. Harper and Romeo were also pictured with their parents, and the gallery concluded with a shot of Victoria and David embracing on the boat’s stern.
Their maritime adventures didn’t end there. In June, David, Victoria, and Romeo were seen aboard a yacht off the coast of Sardinia, Italy. The family took in the Mediterranean scenery, and Romeo was spotted riding a jet ski. For Easter, the Beckhams celebrated on a luxury vessel with their children and Nicola Peltz.
Victoria also celebrated her 50th birthday on a yacht in April, joined by friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. The couple’s love for travel and their family bonding time continues to be a prominent feature of their lives, both on and off social media.
