This is it! A One-Person Scooter That Drives Like a Tank

Custom Robotics is gearing up to unveil the Panzer, a rugged off-road e-scooter capable of traversing any terrain with ease. Unlike traditional scooters, the Panzer features tank treads that enable it to navigate various surfaces effortlessly.

While the Segway was primarily designed for suburban areas and malls, the Panzer is specifically crafted to tackle demanding job sites. Sporting tall handlebars and a sturdy base equipped with dual direct-drive motors powering fully suspended tracks, this scooter prioritizes functionality over aesthetics. Despite its utilitarian appearance, individuals seeking an off-road Segway alternative are likely to appreciate its rugged design.

However, the Panzer’s appeal lies not only in its appearance but also in its performance. Custom Robotics promises a scooter capable of reaching speeds of up to 15 mph, surpassing the original Segway PT’s top speed of 12.5 mph. Safety features include a “Dual Grip” drive system requiring both hands on the handlebar for movement, along with bright LED headlamps for enhanced visibility. Additionally, users can expect approximately one hour of continuous ride time on a single charge, with the added convenience of a voltage reader on the on-off switch to prevent unexpected battery depletion.

While the current iteration of the Panzer appears straightforward, Custom Robotics plans to introduce attachments for customization purposes, such as a seat, tools, and storage compartments. Furthermore, the company intends to offer replacement parts directly to customers, facilitating easy installation within just 10 minutes.

As indicated on the Custom Robotics website, the Panzer is identified as the “v1,” signifying the initial version of the scooter. Interested buyers can take advantage of a special pre-order offer, priced at $9,999, a $5,000 discount from its usual price of $14,999. This pre-order opportunity allows early adopters to secure the Panzer at a reduced rate while also providing valuable feedback for future iterations of the scooter.
